I think this is why the Carbon Air and air2 are so good. You are getting a high quality suit, that lasts a long time for half the price, even a third of the tip top suits out there that will only give you the minunte advantage

Would you recommend the arena carbon flex or finis rival (1.0) for a multi stroke sprinter if the cost is basically the same? I found the carbon air2º not compressive enough, the finis rival 2.0 difficult to put on but preferred the back strap and silicone leg grippers to either arena. The fuse was too lose through the whole body except crazy tight on the cuff of the leg and uncomfortable in the shoulders. I had sized down one size for it compared to the rest. This is to be a second suit to switch out with a finis rival 2.0. Thanks for the input!

My son is almost 13 and has only been training 2-3 hours per week for just under 3 years. He has never competed in meets outside of school carnivals, so literally competes three days each year. He qualified for the NSW public high school state championships (Australia) and came 12th in the 50m free a few weeks ago in a speedo basic training jammer swimming 29.70. Not super fast but decent for his level of training. Everyone else seemed to be in a tech suit. He is all keen now and has switched squad clubs and is training 6.5 hours per week and in a month wants to increase to 8.5 hours. I must say as a parent 5am starts suck! He is now going to compete in our winter short course meets before the LC meets start in October. I want to get him a tech suit but am reluctant to spend over $450 aud on one. After watching this review and your 21 tech suit review video I am thinking of buying a slightly higher tech suit for champ meets and something slightly cheaper for qualifying meets. I have managed to get a Finis Rival 2.0 delivered from the UK for $230 aud (£131) and a Adidas Adizero XVIII FS from the US for $125aud (£71). Do you think this is a good start for him? He is almost 6ft 1 already and is wanting to race 50-100m free and get into 50-100 fly. He may consider 200m free once his endurance improves. He doesn’t mind breaststroke but he is nowhere near as strong as his free. Any advice would be appreciated. Cheers, as a family we have no experience in swimming meets and technical aspects.

I think that if you're not at the skill or competition level to notice and/or appreciate the expensive tech suit, then it's best to save your money. I'm happy as a clam buying a couple $50USD swimsuits (TYR/Speedo) in different colors/styles. I'm only a recreational swimmer that doesn't compete. I don't need a $350USD Speedo/Mizuno techsuit.

what would you recommend for tall (5ft 7) 14 year old girl, main stroke freestyle. Training around 12-14 hours a week or 15-18 hours including dryland. Mainly competing in minor meets but just qualified for first state champs (qld, aus) for 50 and 100 free and looking to buy a tech suit. Budget would probably be around $100-150 AUD or 70-100 euros.

Not in Oman. In UK you will get fees over a certain price. You may be ok for MX Sonic but will get tax on GX Sonic.

I haven't tried the Mad Waves but they have great deals on their website atm. I'd recommend Mizuno GX Sonic above anything else to try though.

I HAD a finis vapor pro but it ripped even tho it was brand new(only worn once prior) and even tho i took major precautions when putting it on like sitting down powder etc. It ripped i was recommended the arena carbon glide what would you think is a good suit for me?

Do you know anything about the Mizuno MX-Sonic all black, not the 02 but there’s one on the Mizuno site and it has all the sizes. It seems like a good suit but I’m really not sure. Do you know anything about it? Again, you ate a great guy and I love that I have the opportunity to ask you this even if you don’t answer. The US one is the MX Sonic Alpha, I haven't tried but think it's a refined version of the 02. It'll probably be decent value for money but not near as cheap as I got the 02.

I do roughly the same thing for my own races. For the regular in season galas I wear entry level suits that cost 40-60 euro. For my big competitions that I've tapered for I break out my carbon suits.

It does indeed have great longevity. Just depends on if you've already got beater suits or not. In which case get a few cheaper models. Also Venzo is much more than a Mizuno GX Sonic 3, and the Mizuno is deffo better.

What about women's suits? Are all these models available for women too? Coming from a curious father whose daughter wants one, and I'm out of my element here. They are available for women's. Women's generally cost more than men because more materiel. I'd find something cheap as a first one.
