Investing in a Roth IRA can be a good choice since they are funded with after-tax dollars, and your contributions can grow tax-free over time. When you withdraw money from your Roth IRA in retirement, you won’t have to pay tax on it, which will help you keep more of your hard-earned money. I retired with 2 million dollars.

@PhilNagel6 ай бұрын
Depends what the interest rate on the mortgage is. A rule of thumb I’ve heard financial professionals use is if the mortgage rate is above 6% it may make sense to pay it down early. If mortgage rate is below that, you can put it in 401k or a taxable brokerage account and invest in the market since you’ll have a long time horizon. It’s all up to you though cause you may look to refinance the duplex mortgage in future too. Good luck

So I’ve only worked as a W2 in my teens I’m now in my mid 20’s. as far as benefits go or having a retirement plan, Roth IRA, or 401k. I don’t get any of those benefits. as a 1099 am I screwed? What are things I could do now so when I do retire I’m not screwed?
@jaydeedee63443 жыл бұрын
You can call a couple local financial advisors and fiduciary’s. Tell them you situation and see who can set you up with an account. As a 1099 worker you can invest as much as you make up to the limits. So if you make $4k a year you can only invest a max of $4k. If you make over the limits (for your age) you can max out either a Roth IRA or a traditional IRA. Both have benefits and can be good. I personally like the Roth since the taxes are paid now. Max for a Roth for you is $6k. You can also start a solo 401k which will allow you to save even more than $6k. Best advice would be call multiple people and set up calls with them. If you don’t like them move on. It’s your money and they are working for you. Also make sure you understand what you are investing in. Ask lots of questions.
