This is a question not a negative comment because you guys are great: you cutted 50% of roots and washed them, removed about 80%of foliage and wired all the remainng brances. All done at the same time. Aren’t you afraid that it might die?? Would be good to see an update in a few months to see the recover.
@WeareTheBonsaiSupply3 жыл бұрын
Hi, that is a valid question and concern. Generally I would take it a little easier, but procumbens are very tough Junipers. Generally Junipers that have been freshly collected will be treated much differently, this tree hasn't seen a pot since the Bush administration and seemed very strong and happy. I am fairly confident it will do great.

You took off an enormous amount of foliage in this styling -- what do you think, maybe 80%? Considering the standard advice is to remove no more than 30-45% of a juniper's foliage at one time, how will this affect this one's survival and future growth?

@WeareTheBonsaiSupply3 жыл бұрын
Why so negative? I agree with you generally you can’t to both at the same time but this is a procumbens and it was in top health and neglected for 40 years. It didn’t have a pot for the last 10 years. However it is very happy and it is pushing new growth so it will just fine.

Hi Cyndi, Thank you for your feedback! Keep in mind, this tree has been neglected for 40 years. When I style a tree for the very first time, I remove everything that doesn't belong to set the tree up for future success.

Hi there. Can you defoliate a juniper?
@kylepurvis62313 жыл бұрын
No absolutely not, Junipers strength is in their foliage, you should try to never remove more than 1/3 when doing work to insure health.

Just what Kyle said, don't defoliate anything that has needles for foliage such as pines, junipers and others alike.
