The Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974 may now be 40 years old, but it still remains the primary piece of legislation covering work-related health and safety in the UK despite continuous changes to everyday working lives over the years.
In order to determine how the Act affects those from a variety of different professions, we talked to a range of organisations, in terms of size and complexity, about how they manage health and safety.
Watch our latest film to hear exactly what the Health and Safety at Work Act means for different organisations and to discover why the Act is still considered fit for purpose after all these years.

A question, If an employee is given a dangerous task to do that needed training to do and that employee ends up being off work for six weeks from resulting injuries. Would the employer have to report the incident honestly. In other words. could he have said in the report that the injured employee was fully trained when in fact the employee was not . Anyone help me here ?

Just seen your comment and the answer is yes an employer should report an accident honestly. Employers have a legal duty to provide training so failing to do so would be a criminal offence. Lying about it would only make that worse.

Under health and safety act 1974 all employers have duty of care over there employees... while care homes are trying to force healthcare workers to vaccinate shouldn’t they be risk assessing every employee to see if they have issues and to explain the vaccine in fact.. and shouldn’t the manager sign this???? I would be grateful for a response
