@@ToolGenie I have dug a well using this method. It took me about 2 weeks to get 10 meter. The 1st day I got to 4m and it looked as though it would be easy. But after that it got much more difficult. As the soil types changed due to volcanic eruption over time we had ,dirt, clay and pummus stone . As I got deeper and the soil wet it would easily slip out of the pipe. But each day I got a few centimeters. Eventually after two weeks of digging with pipes we got the well and it still works today 7 years later

@@ToolGenieThen please explain how the pump can suck water more than 30 feet up? Its physically impossible without a pump at water level. Also, I dare say it's impossible to push 400ft of pipe down with only the weight of a few people, due to friction, and even more impossible to lift it all back up with that method. Maybe 100ft but not more.
@bignicebear2428 Жыл бұрын
There are valves further down, essentially pushing the water up. Or could be. Didn't see it here though, maybe the water table is not as deep. Just cleaner water way down. Didn't see any protection against contamination either.

Artisan pressure?
@Bnstr2016 Жыл бұрын
Ha ha. Only a bunch of rubes would believe this. Laws of physics are not breakable. When you try to suction water past around 30ish feet, the lower pressure causes the water to turn to vapor. Done.

It is not 400 feet. It is 25" max. How do I know? Physics. Water density is such that the maximum that can be pulled up with suction is 25' regardless of borehole size. Water density does not change.

Why would on drill through bedrock for water ? Is is normal to have water level under a bedrock ?
@jimmurphy53553 ай бұрын
@@pan2aja Yes, it is normal in many areas to have rock strats above water bearing layers. This channel shows many examples: www.youtube.com/@h2omechanic There are rock layers stacked one after another in lots of the world. Some are solid, some are porous enough to yield water. You drill through the solid rock to get to the porous layer. Here in northern california where I live, some people have to go down 800 feet to get water.

No matter how deep they put that suction hose, the water table can be no more than about 32' below the well head for a suction pump to work. I understand WHY they pulled the drilling caseing, pipe is expensive. But if the water table sinks past 32', that suction pump will then be useless- If they had left that well caseing, they could have still later install a DOWN ROD PUMP and keep using it as a manual well, or even drop an ejector pump down it later if they had electricity.

I was a water well driller for 27 years here in NEW ZEALAND.. Thats only 40 / 60 feet deep at the most.. Chain tongs for tightening the pipe sections, a sand pump / Bailer for removing the sand from inside the pipe.. yes needs water to work, they add it as they need... The coil of rope ? Wire ? Is not overly long, hence my 40 / 60 feet in depth.. The pipe, slotted, then wrapped in filter cloth allows water in, but not sand.. Water flow is extremely restricted.. Water being pumped is what is in pipe, not sure on how fast it will recharge.. Handpump can only draw water from 27 foot down, in practice.. And even then very hard work, I have spent many many hours on the handpump handle.. The leather bucket washers have got to be good, along with the bottom leather value.. Having said that, theres a LOT OF HARD WORK that has gone on there.. Cheers..

In Bharat we use chain pully to do the same task from 90s decade. Two people dug the 60 feet borewell in 2-3 days.... 400 feet is not possible with this simple trick...

Yes, I noticed that as well. No way that pipe was 400 feet. And of course, it is impossible to pull up from more than 32 feet in any case. So the water table in that hole can't be more than 32 feet below the surface.

400 feet = 122 meters. At 8:08 we see 4 coils of plastic pipe that they insert into the bore. The coil looks to be about 1.5 meters in diameter. Multiply by Pi or 3.14 = 4.71 meters per coil, times 4 coils = 18.8 meters. 100 meters short of the click bait claim, but impressive none the less.
