Man this brings back so many memories. I had a '77, was bought new, I was in my early teens. Rode that bike for years, put gas in it, check the oil tank, kick it over, ride like the devil. I just turned 60, thanks for brining up some wonderful memories from my childhood. BTW the number plate was white and oval shaped.

I had a 1982 KD80, brand new. Got it, mid winter, rolled it into my bedroom and stared it all winter long. Loved that little bike! Rode it until I outgrew it and, today still have a 1987 KLR250. Fond of the Kawasaki brand ever since.

Sounds like it needs an oil-can round it and some loving care… that kickstart pedal squeaked in protest when you folded it out to turn the engine over by hand. I don’t think Kwacker ever brought that model to the UK, but it’s lovely! Watching for the next video. Hope Jennie is soon up and about. Les in UK 🇬🇧

Having owned a kawi from 1969 that had dual carbs and dual rotary valves ( actually disc's) , this little machine should have some real pep! Mine was a Kawi 350 Avenger, and it was a scrambler model that was fitted with some nice off road nobbie tires. It really screamed, I mean there wasn't a bike made that would keep up with it thru the 1/4 mile, but it was too heavy for the trails in retrospect. Then the 500 triple came out and the Avenger became a footnote in history! I only owned that bike for a yr until I blew it up, and turned my interest to a 57 Chevy Pu.

Filter is available. Super torque motor for displacement. The rotary valve is a great system. I run mine dry by fuel shutoff. It can sit for six months. One kick startup. I had a 74 mc1 90. It was my 1st bike, and it was an absolute tank. The rubber grommet that the cables pass through that attach to the carb, didn’t make a proper seal leading to a seizure of the piston and the destruction of the cylinder. RIP little Kawasaki.

Kawasaki designed the mini cycles with a very restrictive exhaust port and exhaust pipe. A very common issue was the exhaust pipe becoming carbonned up and the motor barely running. We would clean the baffle and shorten it so it would flow more. They were still slow.
