4000 Series Logic ICs : The 4055 BCD to 7-Segment LCD Driver

Playing around with 4000 series logic ICs, this is the CD4055 BCD to 7-Segment LCD Driver.
Parts:
CD4055
LCD is the S2X1C50TR
30hz (between 30 - 200hz would work fine) square wave
Breadboard
Bunch of wires
Microcontroller (optional)
100nf decoupling capacitor (optional)

Cool IC. Wouldn't have known about it without this video. I'll look up and ordered few of these, or CD4056 which is latched version. Thanks! "Back in the day" 4055's brighter brother 4511 was almost as common IC as 555 and 4017 in kits built by secondary school students in shop class. There were couple dozen kits to choose from, but there were many variations of just couple basic circuits with minor changes. Back then it was just about soldering. most of us had no idea why the circuit did what it did.

I like the 4511 nice for LEDs , another BCD to 7 segment as I recall. I was going to make a 7 segment version (so the segment crap clock) of the binary crap clock with them.

@@DavidWatts 74LS248 is also common cathode but TTL LED driver wich is even beter than 4511 because it display tails of '6' and '9'

The volume is very low even when I max it out.... Check it out cause I'd love to hear what ur saying and ur great soothing voice!!

A bit more volume would be great cause my phone + my tablet now have to run on full volume ... I usually do not need.

Different audio setup this time, I usually do it on the fly but this was recorded with different hardware. I will look at changing it next time.
