Amazing adventure. That marlin counts. Definitely. It doesn't matter if it didn't come aboard. We have same problem with white marlin coming until the boat but they didn't bite the lures. Solution, just stop the lure and let it sink. Completely dead. Even with the skirt lure. And fish on!

Awesome video Rod. I love Fraser Island. I've been there every year for the last 8 years or so. About 3 years back I dropped a bait about 200m out the front of Nkgala rocks with my drone on the eastern side and it was picked up by a small black. They are amazing things when you see them get up and start tail walking. Last year I went to Wathumba with a kayak and tried to hook onto one, but wasn't successful.

A nice series of videos ,and I do envy you being able to undertake it in such a beautiful place with such calm waters ,but if ever I had the opportunity to undertake such a trip I think that I would use a traditional English style cove boat in the same length or alloy boat ,not only because they are a lot more stable as well as taking the weather better ,but also being able to carry that 2 nd get you out of trouble engine because no matter how good your motor is the AA doesn't come out 3 miles offshore. As I said a nicely made video ,but for such long journeys on your own ,as some once once said " I think you need a bigger boat ""
