Gentlemen this was a really exceptional-IMO-reaction from you. So many heartfelt reactions and really insightful commentaries. One of the joys of watching reactors like yourselves is in getting to vicariously experience a beloved song like this anew. You are so right about Babymetal on their struggles. From the outset they were lambasted by doubters and gatekeepers. Belittled as nothing more than a gimmick. Deaths, injuries, band members leaving. And how about being a teenager in a foreign country and taking the stage in front of 55,000 notoriously cranky metal heads for the first time? And through it all they have done as they extol here in this video and fought through it all. Babymetal after hundreds if not thousands of listens, filled with epically heavy drops still amazes me with Karate. When the instruments explode in this song it is stunning how powerful the riffs are. And yet through it all the magnetic presence and skill of Babymetal cut through it all. Asaf and Itai it is always a pleasure watching one of your reactions. Thank you.

Great reaction fellas! Beyond the lyrics, this MV captures the fight against one’s own inner demons, represented by the 3 ghosts which is a reflection of the girls. Download UK 2016 is an amazing live version of Karate For another MV: *iine! (Official MV)* would be a fun and amazing one, and their 2nd song ever! 🤘🦊

Great reaction. You got what the song was about, how the visuals were illustrating the meaning and so on - I shouldn't have a lot to say 😇😁 'Karate' was the lead single for their second album (2016). You were absolutely right, it is about fighting adversity, when life knocks you down and everything seems too hard so you're hurt and crying, its about standing up and fighting on, helping each other through the hard times. They used karate to illustrate this because as a Japanese martial art it reflects their culture - that was a very important thing for them as well. As with a lot of their songs it is also about always moving forwards. The figures in white were the girls all along and they were conjuring up their own inner demons to fight against. They beat the first, the second knocked them down but they got up to eventually defeat themselves (you noticed almost everything - did you notice the reflections of each of the girls in their own eyes when the masks shattered and it was revealed as them? Not many people spot that). They did watch a lot of martial arts movies to get ideas for the choreo as they wanted it to look as authentic as possible (but they are not martial artists). Moa catching the fly was a nod to Mr Miyagi in The Karate Kid. Mr Miyagi may have used chop sticks (and it may have taken him two or three films before he caught one), Moa caught her fly with her eyes closed - first time .... and she let it go. We all know Moa wouldn't hurt a fly. This song and video won 2 awards. "Best Metal Video in MTV Video Music Awards Japan 2016" and "Best Metal Song in 6th Annual Loudwire Music Awards". As this was the MV you did not see or hear the Kami Band in this one, they only play live shows, not the studio recordings (with the one known exception being Leda Cygnus who played guitar and bass in a small handful of songs).

We did notice several of the things you mention. Sometimes, they just escape us by the time we pause and we end up talking about them privately after recording. It is tough to both notice AND talk about everything on first viewing, for sure. Thank you for taking the time to view and engage. Much appreciated!

@@myindieprodentertainment I know you are very observant and will have seen things you may not have mentioned in the video, so I will say about those things just in case you didn't see them and for other people watching who may not have seen them at all.

Thanks again guys! They really have very few actual music videos. This is probably the best. I thought you would enjoy it. The live video from 2016 Download festival is also one of their best live performances.

Well, when they were younger they never dared to simply impovise a Music Video. But as they proved in Ratatata they can do it. Hardy a Surprise since they started with Music Videos. But they have always in their Background, they earn their money by performing live.

BABYMETAL has eighteen official music videos (thus far), twelve of which are "MTV" type music videos (the other six are live videos). In my opinion, of those twelve, seven are real works of art with "Karate" being one of those seven. 🤘🦊🤘

The first thing I ever saw and heard of Babymetal two years ago, and I've been a happy Kitsune ever since. The music is uplifting and empowering, the visuals absolutely gorgeous.

Do you know much about it's composer? There's more from where that came from. If you don't know about the composer Yuyoyuppe, check out his other stuff.

Hi Guys. This 59 year old Aussie has been down the foxhole for 10 years and I never tire of listening to any Babymetal song and I don't think I ever will. The Queen and her Princesses just do it every time. I still listen to all sorts of other music but I always find myself gravitating back towards BM. I just hope we get another album soon with all the bells and whistles (including Momo 'showing her fangs'). Unfortunately, I will never see them live so I need people like yourselves to keep on reacting and enjoying the world's best. Kitsunes up!
@jimnusbaum358923 күн бұрын
This song was written by Yuyoyuppe who also composed Monochrome, Yava, From Dusk til Dawn, etc. He has also produced many of their songs. He has been with Babymetal from very early on.

⚡ 💀 💕 / 👻 👻 👻 There's a good reason this was the featured single from the second album, 'Metal Resistance'. They made a lot of friends among Metal bands by playing a bunch of festivals, and this song converted quite a few. The choreography was a big hit as well. : ) As is usually the case, the riffs are even heavier live. Like a lot of BABYMETAL songs, this one has a positive message about facing life's challenges.

I will be the first to agree with the rest of The One that BABYMETAL is best served live, and they have, at the moment, eighteen music videos, six of which are live videos. However, they have several that are real works of art and definitely worth looking into. There are some things you can do in a music video that simply cannot be replicated on a live stage. I recommend the following: "Doki Doki Morning" (their first MV, released on YT in 2012) kzbin.info/www/bejne/mZrVmYRunrGXmNksi=k84SUx4P01t9M5ic "Iine!" (their second MV, and pronounced "E-nay", also released in 2012) kzbin.info/www/bejne/p4fHc3WFpbiihJYsi=rNZ3yF8RGVdzBZmS "Megitsune" kzbin.info/www/bejne/mXyWf4CQdrp-fdksi=tqswsmiNVGv2SQFW "Karate" [DONE] kzbin.info/www/bejne/faenZHZ-dplrpqMsi=H_ZQFvyOJa4RBAHP "BxMxC" kzbin.info/www/bejne/pJibnptsf7p8p7ssi=cDkHg0th8i5HSJZ4 "Metalizm" kzbin.info/www/bejne/fauckJ1niNWLa6csi=mGaKJYVDqXwvZotd Metali!! (featuring Tom Morello) kzbin.info/www/bejne/npzMm2eCq6Z2kJIsi=DH7SfvifBUk0-pFd In my opinion, these are BABYMETAL’s best MV’s (so far). Keep rockin’ BABYMETAL!!! KITSUNE UP!!! 🤘🦊🤘

I heard (well actually read it in some video comments 🙂) that studio versions (for albums and MVs) are not with kami bands, and they only play live for BM . Hardcore fans will correct if i'm wrong :)

You are correct, with the exception of Leda who played guitar (and base, I believe) on studio recordings.

Generally correct. Leda Cygnus played some guitar on Metal Resistance. I think it might have been Road of Resistance and another song. But apart from that no studio recording at all. So it's close enough to the truth to be acceptable as a true comment.

Not bad for high school students. Kobametal promised them their songs will be positive, and uplifting. He has kept that promise. Congratulations, you pretty got the song's meaning and you didn't think Moa was going to eat the bug. There are fan-cams of the South American tour. The audiences are right on cue with Su, IN Japanese in Brazil, Peru, Colombia and Argentina. A reaction to Babymetal's "Headbanger" Legend of 1997. FYI Su was born in 1997.
