James You got what you paid for. I bought a 2kw x 120vdc Yenzhou Shenzhou in 2008 and it is still working fine. I fitted new bearings before the old one gave out because s friend told mr that most Chinese bearings are not good. I lowered it during the last load of storms which was a very sensible thing to do. I paid £850 for it. It was a bargain .

I was lucky, I ordered twice, both times they said we are out of stock, please cancel order. Now I am building my own alternator from used hub motor stator and 30 magnets (repeat pattern is 9 slots per 10 poles) sized 10*40*3 mm may be thicker than 3 mm in the future

Forget 400 watts. You're lucky, to get 40 watts out of it. A turbine generator like that would be a better match with a 3 blade rotor with a shallower pitch, so it can run at higher speed, with less torque. You can increase power by allowing a higher voltage, at that highly limited current. A pulse width modulator can be used, to turn the high voltage low current into a voltage suitable for your battery, at a much higher current, than is produced by that turbine. The problem with that 5 blade rotor is, it can never achieve the RPM, and it produces MUCH more torque, than those tiny magnets can ever hope to use.

IMO an out of balance rotor is the biggest issue I saw (alongside the rubbed wire coming a close 2nd). That rotor spinning in a good gust at 1,000 rpm is going to shake everything apart and seriously break things.....

Just load tested one here with an electronic load tester, good metering, controlled input speed.... bla bla.... ran it as high as I could spin it before the controllers brake kicked in (~800rpm). Set the current limit between 8A and 2A with about 0.5A steps, and had to drop it down to about 1.8A before I could get it to around 13V (ie, enough to charge a battery...barely). But no matter what, the math always worked out to about 35-40W. What a joke.

Judging by the size of it, it won't generate 100 watts. Electric motors, generators, welding machine, power supply with transformers, everything that should have copper winding but it's made in china, expect to have aluminum winding instead of copper.

No matter how the stator is wound, the maximum torque is limited by the field strength of the magnets. The magnets on that rotor can never hope to utilize the torque available from that 5 blade rotor. To get anything out of that turbine, a 3 blade rotor with a shallow pitch would be better, because it would spin fast, but with low enough torque, to actually get some power out of those tiny magnets.

This is not the problem of the factory itself, but the trader chooses to let the factory use such a bad thing, just to save costs. Not willing to spend money, but also want to earn more! I am a supplier of wind power, and I am very aware of the routines of Chinese traders. Especially on e-commerce sites. More false marks.

very true, if your buying a good quantity direct from the factory you can dictate the acceptable quality standards and components used. in most cases what is available on ebay and aliexpress is generally the bottom end

Your machine is really bad. The thickness of my iron core and magnet is 12.5mm. The number of laminated iron cores is more than yours. The diameter of copper wire is 0.7mm. It is sold as 100w machine in amazon JAPAN.
