I am 55 years old with no passive income and very little set aside for retirement at this point. I have always been curious about the stock market and have witnessed some people who played the game right and retired early because they used the stock market. When I ask them, most said that they invested very little to start with, but their portfolio grew. I do have a significant amount of capital that is required to start up but I have no idea what strategies and direction I need to approach to help me make decent returns.

Break From The Herd I'm in a zero income tax state and I can get $4k-$8k a month from just dividend income from my Roth 401k. Making sense don't really matter in my case. Not many people can say they have over 1.6 million in Roths.

Joyous Morgan I'm just saying that contributing to my Roth IRA and 401k since it began years ago and avoiding pretax benefited me regardless. Didn't care about anything else and can only see that tax free money making sense to me. Heck the reason many people I know are retiring at 60 and paying zero premiums for Obamacare until 65 is because of tax free money in a Roth.
