RAW Footage , Yes i missed the dart shot 😁 and yes our harpoon rope was severely tangled with our mainline, which prevented us from pulling in the fish until we addressed it. At one point we both accepted that we may loose this fish. We are stoked to accomplish this with 2 guys right in our backyard to kick off the season!

We headed out for a gentleman's start, leaving late around 11 a.m. We didn't have high expectations for this trip, just some hope of getting lucky. The night before the trip, a good friend provided us with coordinates for an area where Atlantic mackerel were present. Our plan was to try our luck with some topwater action and drift baits. It didn't take long after we arrived at the area. We marked two fish with the bait and decided to drift.

this was taken mid April ! it was a little unusual to me that there was mackerel there , i had a buddy out the day before who mentioned it to me and my eyes lit up !

We aren’t permitted to sell with our permits this was a trophy fish, you get one per boat per year while the season is open . but something like that I think they usually range from 5-15$ a pound depending on time of year and demand.

What a waste of a great fish. You can't sell them without a permit and unless you're making sushi for Yankee Stadium it's a waste of one of the few spawning sized fish.
