This guy paved the way for a serious expansion of sci-fi in general. The hero clad in mighty armor fighting his enemies is eternal and exists in every age. Mr. Preistly and crew hashed out a great framework for one of the best miniature and hobby universes ever created. Warhammer has always been near and dear to me and my friends, hope he knows how much fun has been had around the world because of warhammer 40k.

Wished this interview was twice as long. Rick seemed willing to continue. Maybe a part 2? Would have loved to hear more about the game design process. Why he thinks that the current 40k universe is different from his original view. Maybe the fate of the two missing legions? The real origins of the primarchs. Just wish there was more interview.

I'd love to get Rick back on sometime if he's keen. It's a tough call knowing exactly how long these should be, but I definitely have more questions for the man. Thanks for the feedback!

Wish you would have discussed more about Rick's departure from GW and GWs dark times. Rick seemed to want to bring it up, but every time he mentioned it, or Tony Kirby - you promptly changed the subject?

It's a fair criticism. I'm conscious that Rick has gone into a fair bit of detail on the subject in other interviews, so I wanted to explore other avenues. Also, what with the state of the world at the moment, I'm probably more sensitive to staying as positive as I can. So, yeah, I kinda kept away from that area a little bit.

Hello! Great episode. Rick is fascinating, I could listen to him talk all day. I loved the idea too that 40K was initially this garage game that grew by word of mouth within GW. Enjoy Dune too!

Would love to hear him talk about writing the introduction to Kings of War second edition. Although sadly that would not be 40k related.

I grew up with Warhammer fantasy and Warhammer 40k. This lore is as fundamental to me as the Greek and Christian mythologies, the building stones of my psychological construct.

There's a fair bit of both Greek and Christian in 40k, along with plenty more!

Actually WH40K could definitely exist and thrive on a D12 system.
