Wouldnt say sm2 is mid. Its just a classic spam shooter feel with today’s standards. It’s not trying to be anything over the top or complicated. It’s just something simple and easy to understand and play.

SM2 is, as said by many, a reminder of what has been lost. The game feels straight out of the early 2010s, with it's simple yet enjoyable gameplay without (a lot) of paywalls hiding content. The game isn't breaking any new grounds, but it atleast feels complete, and that is what most people want nowadays.

​@@woraphons8845except it isn't average. Compared to the relative market currently, it's above average. Which is why so many people have been talking about it and playing it. Average currently is a buggy, underbaked mess with overcomplicated and sometimes pointless features used to sap people's wallets.

To be fair, Warhammer games are historically terrible lmao maybe 1/10 back in the day used to be decent. So mid is honestly a huge step in the right direction

Your long load time usually isn't because of the game. Its either because you have it on a HDD rather than a SSD, or your GPU/CPU barely meets the standards what it recommends.

You are completely wrong, the game is constantly connected to the servers, the same problem occurs in PVE sessions, campaign or PVP it doesn't take long but it takes a while. The servers that Focus or Saber decided to use are from Epic's Games, so when you open the game, an Epic Games service extension opens with the game itself. I don't even need to go very far when you open the game you are automatically connecting to online services. The assets, resources and other things are read first, only then do you connect to the server, so you are completely wrong with these statements. If it were on the HDD, believe me, it would take much longer and would be full of performance instability problems, and constant reduction in texture quality.

And almost certainly if you answer "but I don't have any problems" everyone has this problem with slow loading times, some worse than others but it's a server problem. And I'll give you my specifications right away, just to clarify any doubts. Modern 40k games are far from mid. Technically they are often absolute messes though. But in terms of actual content? Always at least solid. (Except DoW 3) Darktide is the biggest example. Even now a technical nightmare. But the core gameplay and general detail is impressive, even shining despite all the sub-par fluff surrounding it like RNG crafting. Nobody can say darktide is mid when jasper's soundtrack pumps while the director AI pushes you perfectly into a stress inducing backfoot that you can respond to with great audio feedback. Yet we can all agree, screw the rest of the game.

I wouldn't dispute that. I'm too monkey brained for strategy games, but from what I've seen the 40k strategy games do really well. I was more so addressing when they break out of that genre

Its full of mid titles and straight up mobile GARBAGE, but it also has some of the most iconic games of all time like Dawn of War

cause if they made a really good one, then GW wouldnt need to sell the minis lol, but dawn of war 1/2 are the peak, strategy wise, spacehulk for the mindnumbing shooting of nids lol, just something about walking around in terminator armor, 40k mods for other games are good too, but theyre unofficial

They are either between good and great, or so incredibly bad they have earned. None are perfect, but frankly an name a generalising as "40K Games are Mid", while an ultimatly subjective opion, is somewhat disconnected from the facts of both the great games, like space marine 2 and mechanicus, and the frankly terrible ones, 'darktide is mid' whould be a much more understandable position, though i still would disagree given improvement over time and merely being the victim of trends, with the hints towards gene stealers not going arry. Also, space hulk: deathwing is best with friends, russian badger comfirmed this.

I honestly found Darktide to just be hyper-repetitive. The gameplay is good, but doing the same missions over and over and over and over... got so boring so fast. At a point it became like Vermintide where it was just Press W and spam left click. And that is just bad.

Helldivers now and peak is better than space marine
