So as many of you may be aware if you follow me on social media or Patreon, my computer had to go in for repairs due to the soundcard just up and dying on me. As such, I want to give a massive thank you to Baldermort for being an absolute gentleman, by not only offering to narrate this episode for me, but for actually taking the time to edit and put it all together while I was unable to do so. Super fun to play table top. They can get to be half way descent in melee if you have all the named heroes. Strong as a space marine with skin as strong as flak armor!

It'd be both a waste, and a terrible idea Firstly, catachan itself is dependent on its ability to tithe regiments in exchange for food Secondly, you'd only get 1000 marines from there at any given time because of the codex astartes

No. It would be a waste of Catachan children. The Catachan's also have an instinctual distrust of outside authority. They only willfully take orders from those whom have earned the right to lead. Which is why Commisars have such a high attrition rate when posted with Catachan regiments. The Catachans can already fire an Astartes bolters without injury. The planet itself has bred humans that surpass normal hive born humans. Who knows. Catachan humans might regularly reject gene seeds. Making any attempts pointless.

While many would be tempted to use Catachans for an Astartes Chapter. It would be a unnecessary drain on Catachan Imperial tithes. As many Catachans can wield weapons that other humans would find difficult at best if not impossible. As Catachans have been seen firing Astartes models of Bolters. Catachan regiments and their special units like the Catachan Devils are already invaluable to the Imperium of Man. For their unique war fighting skills. There's also their distrust of outside authority to be considered and close family unity. Taking Catachan children from their families. Would result in the mysterious disappearances of Imperium officials.

@@40KTheories You (Baldermort) breathe life into the stories and characters even the narrations in a way no one else does, Luton is good at giving more information like reading out of a textbook, the board of Prince excels at narrations of stories, 40K theories, has a niche way like the odds and ends the things that don't fit they give perspective. But you are definitely the best of all of them. Just my opinion. 🙂

I can say with ease that the Catachan Jungle Fighters are one of my least favorite regiments; I've never really clicked with their Rambo and tank tops motif, and I sometimes wonder why we need Space Marines, when CJF can seemingly do much of the same stuff without armor? Still, saying that, I am really disappointed with how 9e Guard Codex did them. Guard don't have real close combat units, and I feel like these could've been that, especially since Guard can field the three regiments tog,and basically suffer no consequences. Guard don't have stealth units. I think Col-Com Gaunt and Ghosts are the only Guard units with camo cloaks, or access to them, and they are a weird HQ choice that doesn't even appear in the book. I wish it felt more like it wasn't just GW not wanting to refresh the Cata line, because they used to be good, and could have here. They could have hugged the cover points, using cameoline cloaks to sneak from spot to spot, loose gotta of flamethrowers to soften up whatever they were about the to assault, and then hack them up with big knives, or power fists. I just don't get why it happened, and even though I don't like them; I'm a Cadian at heart, so I should just be glad they're the hands-down best Guard, I really hope 10e will see them returned to usefulness. Straken is good, and I feel like he could lead CJF to victories, if their unit wasn't garbage. You could play them using Cadian rules, maybe Krieg, or other custom regiments, and I guess they might be fine, but I wish they were their sneaky, hard-hitting up close force they always were. Oh well. On a side note, does Catachan have moons? While I get that most natives there actually aren't desperately trying to flee their planet, but just take vacations from it, before maybe coming back (even though few regiments deployed ever actually return home), you'd almost think once they'd regained a certain level of tech, and had outside ships regularly bringing in resources, that they'd establish foothold on any satellites, and/or establish star bases above their world, that aren't riddled with death traps, but then I guess they feel if you don't have to face that,cyou won't grow to become a real Catachan.
