I mean, think about it, they are facing a Chapter well known for its mastery of just the kind of action they are attempting to undertake, and they are doing it in that Chapters own back yard. @@alganhar1 It's worse than that actually. What you don't know right know is that they're not fighting 3 chapters. They're fighting 6. And another one or two will be joining the warders as well. The astral claw's withholding their gene-seed wasn't some petty act. Huron started to build an actual legion, reaching some 3,000 brothers. They also took in members of the tiger claws, their successor chapter. Meaning that the Firehawk from the outlook were outnumbered 4-6 to 1 easily. And the defenders had an entire region of space's resources into defense, repair, etc. So really there was no way the fire hawks can pull out a win here.

It isn't just them fighting mantis warriors, it's them fighting the entire extraction grid, it's resources, the defense of the various chapters all combined, forcing them into a situation where they can't engage without risking being overwhelmed. That's because there's some 4,000-6,000 astartes fighting them, as well as all the other forces, defense, etc. So they're basically fighting an entire legion worth of space marines with under 1,000 of their own, considering they already took losses.

See Huron is being a child. The imperium actually needs those resources cause you know, Ultramar just got invaded by bugs. He murdered fellow imperial for doing their duty. He raided a fellow imperial sector. He left the imperium for being told 'no, we REALLY need the resources elsewhere, your fixation on non-imperial space isn't nearly as important as saving ultramar'. So I can't actually feel too bad for him. A lot of what happens is because of his own actions, making enemies everywhere he goes, and putting his own ego before the imperium. Badab was his own realm, he would have most likely argued that his system was as equally important as Ultramar considering the resources it produced and still went on with what he already has. It's easy to say that the High Lords are assholes, because they are a lot of the time, but they have to think of the entire galaxy, not just one sector. As the saying goes "In the grim darkness of the 41st millennium, there is only war." and the Imperium and the High Lords have to be really careful where they deploy forces so that they don't leave themselves open to attack from another place. Lugft Huron was short-sighted and arrogant thinking that his place and his campaign was the most important in the Imperium and that he deserved more. Not to say that Huron was completely at fault here. The lords of Chartago were getting a bit greedy, but again, that's because their hide was on the line, they were desperate and made the moves they made because they'd be killed if they didn't bring in resources. So in short, Huron was short-sighted and accidentally started a very big war thinking he was completely in the right all along. The fact that he would turn to chaos was also telling of his ego. And if you say that he was pushed to do it, then why did the other Warder chapters not fall to chaos despite fighting in the same war and suffering the same?

Inquisition are less likely to try to fuck around with "stronger" marine chapters, the wardens were out in the boonies with a LOT of local power compared to say the astral claws who were easy to "ork sniper" That is why they bent over backwards to avoid tangling with the space wolves but are happy to fuck over and destroy other chapters as a matter of course.

Sure, they had a difficult relationship with administratum and Terra and were frustrated by their failed campaign, but secession is not forgivable. They're next to the second greatest Warp Rift in the galaxy, they have to deal with pirates and heretics so much that some of the grid's resources need to be spent to build up defenses, though I'll agree that the Warders went too far with the secession. As for the other foes to worry about, if the Cadians hold the lines against the Black Crusades while backup arrives, Kriegers are dropping on the Necrons, and genestealers are being dealt with properly then they could've sent some free forces, and there are dozens of fleet based chapters in the Imperium without a proper recruiting world. They had a big list available, they could've used it to avoid violence, pretty sure there are some members of the Unforgiven that could've benefitted both sides by being allocated to the Warders, even the Fire Hawks could've been sent to repair relations.

@@internetzenmaster8952 Huron isn't loyal though. Huron has already crossed the line long ago, but actively ordering the murder of fellow imperials is not loyal. He fired the first shots, then the second, third, and fifth. To the point that khartago had no choice BUT to respond. They were losing ships and entire worlds... Huron literally betrayed the imperium because he got told 'no' one too many times. Petty and vain don't quite come close. And I can't wait till we see the war turn against him, and his hopes and dreams are burned to the ground because of his own actions.

Right? The dude literally blames everyone else. But HE gave orders that lead to the death of imperials actually well within their rights. It get's worse because huron's entire motivation is the obsession with the maelstorm. So much so he literally forgets the imperium has other actual crises, like the tyranids that mauled utramar. So he starts being vindictive and petty towards everyone else, to the point he FORCES khagtago's hand in being desperate. He deprives the imperium of resources actually needed elsewhere because they wouldn't give him 100 chapters to go on a crusade to an area that really isn't something the imperium could even hold. As proven by his own attempts. So, I just can't feel bad for him. He's the bad guy here because of his own ego and petty nature. And while other's messed up, the main malicious actions were done BY Huron, and only returned when given no alternatives.

Take the wider imperium into account and what's happening inside of it, and Huron become a spoiled child who throw a tantrum at the imperium cause it said no to it's DEMANDS.
