Does anyone else remember back in the 90's when the Lizardmen and Bretonnians came along. I seem to remember quite distinctly that it talked about the Old Ones and how they retreated from the rest of the galaxy (suggesting 40k), setup the warhammer world in the galactic north and sealed themselves away from everyone else with their own little world to play with, but it went wrong when their webway gate collapsed killing most of them off leaving the world isolated to its own devices. Basically translating as Warhammer exists in 40k just kept away from everything else by the old ones. I'm sure it's been retconned by now, but could easily be brought back in with the shattering of the old world occuring due to the fall of Cadia and the warp tear. Stormcast are effectively legion of the damned. Imagine one phasing in with a Bolter "No brother, Emps wants us incognito, this place requires knife work... And less flames"

I like to theorize Leman Russ is actually in the warp on a quest to rescue the goddess. I know this is too nice to fit into the 40k universe, but I like to think Leman’s pause was him hearing a message her, and knowing the mission to rescue her was suicidal, even for him. Plus I think it would’ve been cool to see the Space Wolf Primarch interacting civilly with the beautiful goddess, even if not romantically, just him trying to be nice. Assuming he just doesn’t go xenophobia on her, and just kill her outright.
@DefiantSpurr4 жыл бұрын

Yeah, he's a giant of a man clad in lustrous silver armor wielding a magical sword and firing blue lightning from his hands... but what of his Storm Bolter? Ammo may be hard to come by in the Warp, but he can use it with no restriction in gameplay so you know he has some available for special occasions. And you'd think that he'd have some saved up for an occasion as special as assaulting Nurgle's Mansion! It's not like even a race as reclusive as the Wood Elves doesn't know what a gun is either, because they hate the Dwarves and frequently fight against Skaven and the Empire. I dunno, as awesome as it would be for Draigo to add another meme to his collection, that one little omission is what makes me doubt it was Draigo. Instead, I bet it was foreshadowing to the Sigmarines.
@honkeykong40494 жыл бұрын
Okay, but that begs the question then of if the Eternals are "beyond Daemons' ability to kill" - because I'm very much certain they aren't. I'm not talking about dying and being reforged either, I'm saying simply not being killed in the first place. To me, that takes a typical Sigmarine off the list of who it could be.
@henryhaile16534 жыл бұрын
I'm pretty sure Draigo doesn't have one, going the way of Grey Knight Paladins (like purifiers but better at swordfighting, and they did a bunch of work to basically just be bodyguards for grandmasters and shock troops to the Grey Knights who are shock troops to space marines who are shock troops) who forsake ranged weapons altogether (for some fucking reason) and just go sword and shield. All the art I've seen of Draigo is just his sword and shield. I'd also assume that he'd run out pretty quick fighting daemons almost constantly for thousands of years. In the books I read, ones that featured Alaric, and Garran Crowe, they both seemed to be running low on ammo constantly throughout their respective books, having to take ammo from their fallen comrades when they could, and to make what ammunition they had count. In Crowe's case, they were fighting Slaaneshi forces and the Masque of Slaanesh taking over a world just as the cicadrix maladictum (whatever who cares) opened, and in Alaric's case, fighting a whole forge world that had been corrupted in the warp for 1000 years, though they did have some tech guard and a grandmagos with them (also aided by some tech guard who rebelled against the dark mechanicus) but still. Draigo probably wouldn't have the ammo after all his time fighting, and given his psychic potential, probably didn't need it.

Who is stronger goes to 40k by a lot they are beings power by belief after all, having billions of people worshiping you daily gives you a big boost. In fantasy they have maybe at most 40 million followers top. You can see the power difference from how many deamons they can spawn, fantasy you got maybe at most 20,000 deamons 40k likewise can up to a few million deamons.

The realm of chaos itself is heavily implied to be the same, but GW has gone out of it's way to try and keep fantasy and 40k away from each other in more recent times. Lesso in the past, however: Not only was the ancient Realm of Chaos books designed to allow crossplay to various levels (especially as this was the era of Rogue Trader, where things were far looser) and there was events where fantasy factions would find relic weapons far beyond their tech level that essentially were 40k relics. Again, though, that was far, far before the series growing more serious, and in particular the End Times itself.

My preference comes from the simple idea that the world of Warhammer Fantasy holding the answers to the conundrums of 40K, such as the creation of a new god-like being similar to the emperor without the mass suicide of psykers thing. As well as, that it's essentially a world filled to the brim with the potential of the Warp that acts that require immense resources and artifacts of protection to achieve in 40K are a matter that a single person with a silly looking staff can achieve in Fantasy.

Couldn’t be Kaldor that Areloth encountered. How could Kaldor communicate to him that his greatest of enemies are the Gods of Chaos? Maybe psychic suggestion? Or Areloth understands high/low Gothic.

Probably he used a combination of psychic communication and suggestion to translate the words/ideas as he spoke, essentially making a translator.

I think if you ask Ward, it is Kaldor. I think if you ask anyone else, its a timelost Stormcast who is perhaps at best Kaldor if he was a Sigmar character (so, no more than an easter egg ). GW has made it abundantly clear that there is no connection between the two settings. They have also (via the Gotrek audio books) made it clear the Old World still survives and it can be reached via AoS.

It’s not a bad theory, but I think the stormcast eternal Gardus of the Hallowed Knights is a better fit. He was drawn into the garden of Nurgle during the realmgate wars, where he wandered the garden battling demons and setting fires wherever he went. Hallowed Knights armour is predominantly silver, and they are sworn enemies of the chaos gods. Any stormcast is beyond Chaos’s ability to slay because when they “die” their soul returns to Sigmar to be reforged. Also when Gardus returns to the mortal realms, a fellow Hallowed Knight remarks how his armour appears to be punctured by a spear. Baring in mind that time doesn’t flow linearly in the chaos realms, it is possible a stormcast could encounter a group of adventurous from the world that was.

You ever wonder if life in other galaxies worships the same chaos gods? Or are there chaos gods unique to other galaxies? The big 4 certainly seem only to care about this galaxy, but the nids prove that life can exist beyond the galactic rim...
@mattkennedy93084 жыл бұрын
Not sure but I like the idea that the Tyranids were created by Xenos from another galaxy as an anti-Chaos bioweapon before it escaped. Imagine you're minding your own business and then some bunch of aliens rip open a Hellgate and screw up an full galaxy. Of course you'd look at something to try and stop it before it came near you.

My only thought is, what would add best to the story? Chances are it was an on the sly reference to 40k. Leaving it up to personal interpretation allows for the creative freedom to answer "maybe" to the question. As such, I don't see the story being improved by the Knight being Kaldor Draigo. Much more likely, as the nature of the chaos gods is markedly different than their inherent nature in 40k, it was much more likely a fantasy character. As in 40k the gods hold significantly more power and would likely have the manor swarmed with uncountable billions of Nurglite armies. Rather than several hundred. Clearly the universes are distinct even within the Warp. My interpretation favors a Stormcast Eternal.
@christopherg23474 жыл бұрын
It used to be, that Warhammer Fantasy and Warhammer 40k were a shared universe. That the Fantasy world existed somewhere in the 40k Universe. While that idea was scrapped, they seem to have reintroduced it via the Multiverse theory.
@ithemba Жыл бұрын
it never actually was clearly established or stated - but heavily implied throughout the 3rd edition 40k / 6th edition fantasy. I think it also was remarked on in the old fluff bible that was never intendet for public release but for establishing the common baseline of lore for all the different writers in the setting, then leaked in the early 00s.
@glenmcgillivray47074 жыл бұрын
Could the silver knight be in fact the Emperor. According to the records he existed for longer than civilisation having been created to combat the powers of chaos. Messing with Nurgles plans sounds like an Emps thing to do but he hasn't bothered ascending nor fixing the world into 'earth' for reasons unknown. I presume the strongest warrior of the planet will flex his Psyonic powers and fix this world to grant humans ascendency soon enough. As for the 'rescue' he probably got bored while waiting.
