In this video I get an answer to my first call of the afternoon from K4JJW running a vintage (ca 1954) Johnson Ranger. It's fun listening to the frequency changes from the old station.

Keep posting videos like this, please! I am hoping to take the CW Academy class in September/October but i am trying to get a headstart. I have to listen to certain parts four or five times before i can copy and understand them.

Nice , Junker key, but Rangers can sound much better on cw . . That one needs some TLC . . .his " RST" would have been around 597D back in the old days (D for drift) . . Terry at D labs here will show him how to restore that Ranger before it's damaged from old caps and resistors. . .like your Videos , listen to the practice all the time , they help me to copy words in my head . . Thanks !

Is that the KX3's sharp filter causing the "ringing" in the old Viking's signal or was he pulling slightly. Copying that would give me a headache... hi hi

Yes, the audio in the KX3 has some issues. www.hamradioqrp.com/2017/01/my-tentec-eagle-sounds-better-than-my.html
