@thym92166 жыл бұрын
I get that he's trying to make a profit but if he was aiming to get 20-25k for it I would assume you much rather have him just say that or maybe start bidding at 30-35k instead. That's just my thoughts on it though, would like to hear yours on it.

Michael knows how to deal with salesmen like these because he buys expensive stuff all the time, and he knows that they ALWAYS quote prices way above what they're actually willing to sell for. That's why he knew to drop the offer so much. As for the salesman, you can be damn sure that he's making money on that sale, if he wasn't, he'd have simply refused the offer.

Lmao these salesmen are so text book you can pretty much anticipate what they will say next. For example at 4:25 one guy tells him it’s complete it has papers, box, etc. Then at 4:55 the guy who wanted to give his two cents done a mistake and told a customer the line where they wanted to send it to Switzerland to get it Authenticated but quickly realizes that this is not something you say to a customer so he fumbles, does that “uhhhhhh” think of something quick line and gets himself out of trouble by saying to get it a box. Lmao. Salesmen, never trust a word they say.

My friend been involved in business for the last 17 years, selling and buying and I own a general trading company. One of the few things I’ve learnt in life whilst dealing with sales reps is that they would say absolutely anything to get a sale. SPECIALLY JEWELERS. They throw figures outta their heads hoping to catch a poor soul that says yes that’s a good price. It’s also seen in the video how much mark up they put on items whilst Michael knows how to bargain them well. Look how much they wanted for the cuff links and how much Michael ended up grabbing them for. Salesmen and truth??? Too far fetched.
@channelnumber736 жыл бұрын
You are right on!.Just look at what they want for the "picassos",it is a joke,these pieces arent even painted by picasso.He made hundreds of different pieces in his workshop,and some were picked out and made in numbers,painted by hired decorators and sold to turists.Untill 20 years ago most of these pieces cost hundreds of $,and now you wouldnt have to pay over 100.000 for any of them,these guys wants 400-500 000,i dont think so.
@dontsleep58636 жыл бұрын
This Michael old man always has no knowledge or clue on the stuffs he buys. He buys things just because they’re expensive, which is not wrong. But that is also one of the reasons why he’s getting ripped off hard all the time.
@ImDailyDraw6 жыл бұрын
The best part is, they say it was $580.000 back in 1990 and now $200.000, so price is like 20-30% (with inflation) of the retail price. Then Michael goes about saying it's a good investment and will probably increase in price because it's 1 of 1. There's a reason the price is way lower than retail and no that debris is not gonna increase in price.

Michael, I think (mho) you are a very nice buyer in this episode, i have designed several nice precious diamond pieces from scratch (sought the perfect stones in some amazing world spots) and I would say your buy in this episode was a bit too expensive. I also find special, unique and precious jewelry (etc) for other people and I am paid to do so. These guys (shop keepers) are offcourse very well trained sellers (maybe from the mid.east or so) and they can read people and know how to make money off whom and when. You are offcourse smart, and even though you are special being rich but still "accessable" as a human, some sometimes maybe think rich people are eager and they would pay anything.. and that is seen as some type of a "give away" as im sure you know. I have dealt with several types of people in this industry, so i usually know the "types".. and as im NOT an official dealer or such, they tried to sell me many things very expensively, and several times they did sell it as I was "too keen"..but i did learn form my mistakes, although, my ultimate hobby is precious stones and jewelry, its been expensive lessons. I do own very special pieces, both antiques and otherwise, and my own designs-for example a 45ct sapphire with incarved ornaments surrounded by amazing yellow diamonds.. enjoy that piece. In Sweden, we have access to very amazing antique jewelry, as there hasnt been any war for so long so much is kept intact..so its often a joyful "jewelry hunt"...welcome!

Astonishing what lurks behind a very ordinary shop front.The collection has me intrigued. The wealth of America is astounding to a peasant like me,mere trinkets worth millions. For all that,we in our basement kitchen here in Chelsea London have enjoyed this cleverly videoed jaunt around a very high end jeweller. As ever,thank you Michael and Adam,and of course ,more please!

I luv that Picasso Bull (I'd be happy with the vase & painting never mind that its a Picasso-That's no BS) All the very BEST!! Cheers from Vancouver, Canada!!

I love seeing glimpses of the real business side of Michael when he's doing deals, that's the meat & potatoes of these videos. DeeD898 That does happen in business, but doubtful that’s the cases here. Especially over that amount of money and considering he’s a middle of the road watch dealer. Also considering he said it had been a couple years since Michael had even been there. No doubt he does Michael favors and gives deals, but the $30K sounds like a different situation in my opinion.
