Well done video. I have learned that you have to constantly check the work done by professionals you hire. That's why I don't like to hire someone to do what I can do, but I can't do everything and not a lot of what I used to do. That's when you call the pros and either watch their every move or trust them and check their work along the way. You seem to be a talented and patient person. I would not have been good at dealing with the contractors like you did. Keep up the good work and always take time to play with your children.
@savemoneydiy874 жыл бұрын
Thanks. Yeh it’s pretty bad to have to check behind “professionals” but it is what it is. I too pretty much will not pay someone for something that I can do myself. Thanks for the comment.

Insulating your garage doors will make a huge difference. Some sound deadening will quiet up the loud metal and some foam and reflective barrier is all easy to install and fairly cheap. You have a nice setup for sure!

The inside walls of my garage are finished with 4 x8 and 4x9 LP Siding tongue and groove panels. I think you will like the tongue and groove a lot better than drywall. It saves on all that joint mudding, is more sturdy and you don't get all the dust when drilling it for shelves etc. It takes paint nicely too.
@savemoneydiy874 жыл бұрын
That’s cool. Yeh my plan was to do tongue and groove but lumber is outrageous right now, at least in our area so I may just go with drywall.

Really good video I really love how you’ve been doing with everything just to let you know you can tell you love nice things so if you wanna make your garage door is much more quieter and lubricate them with PB blaster you can buy it at Home Depot or Lowe’s design for garage doors in your red emergency release rope on each opener make sure you cut off the access road towards the top and burn the end if needed and then it would look cleaner but everything else looks really good keep up the good work

Why drywall the ceiling? You could spray foam the roof and do no drywall right? I personally like the look of framing exposed. Your shop looks awesome by the way!

I seem to recall you had extra support in the floor for the lift to be in the middle bay. Did you have to cut into the floor, dig it out and pour a thicker pad when you moved the lift over?
@savemoneydiy874 жыл бұрын
No I didn’t cut anything. Lift recommendations are 4” thick 3,000 psi. When I had the grader bring the dirt in he asked me to mark the walls where i wanted the dirt to stop so I did an even line all the way around. I didn’t realize I should have made the back higher than the front so my pad would slope to the front of the shop. So I ended up having to get my slope with my concrete so it’s actually 6” thick at the back and 4” thick at the front and where the lift sits is around 5-5.5” thick. I also used 4,000 psi concrete.

I shit you not, when you said in another video, that your doors were 9, 10, and 9 foot wide, I wanted to yell at you.. What drew me to your video is the LIFT in the title. My shop is too low for a lift, but it doesn't keep me from dreaming.. Anyway, I have 2 trailers that are 8' 6" wide. My last shop had a 9' door on it and there is NO WAY I was going to be going in and out of there with either of my trailers.... I have 10' 4" from the back wall of my shop to the back fence and backing them into that space is tough.. I welded a receiver for a hitch on the front of my JD tractor just for that.. So what's you thoughts on the 32' deep garage?? I KNOW the answer to the width!! lol...
@savemoneydiy874 жыл бұрын
Yeh I still sometimes wish I made all 3 doors 10’ wide but hindsight is 20/20. 32’ deep is fine for me but you can never go too big. If my yard wasn’t so sloped I would have probably made it 40x40 and if my bank account was big enough it would be even bigger. 32’ is deep enough to have my lift centered and put a car on it and still have plenty of room for my toolbox and everything else in the front.
