So I am 53, I ride, and I am pretty sure over 90% of either discipline wouldn't be able to keep up. I feel much more in control of my strength having learned efficiency through experience. Stay strong and flexible with consistent varied fitness and (safely) push your limit each year. Your body needs to be the focus of your attention, ends up being the only thing that will stay with you till the end...see you out there!

To me it's not a surprise when old people are still good at these kinds of sports. I'm 31 and 53 isn't even that old too me. I've seen 70 year old men that are more physically fit than me that would be able to ski or snowboard just like anyone my age or younger than me if they learned how. The number one biggest reason why a lot of old people aren't as in good of shape as younger people is they make the excuse I'm too old so why even try. That's the type of old people that sit in their house and watch the news all the time. Old age is what you make it. If you don't get enough exercise, and you eat unhealthy your body will pay for it as you get older. If you get the exercise you need and eat healthy there's a good chance you'll be athletic, healthy, and able to do any sport you want when you're a old man or old woman. It's just more work to stay athletic and healthy as you get old but not impossible.
