Should I do more boats like these or stick to the Trawlers and Sail? What other boats similar to this style this do you prefer?

Good tour, looks like a nice boat ... there are quite a few areas that could use improvement though. There are an abundance of through-hull penetrations, a better option is to have one sea chest to reduce the number of holes in the hull. It also has very sort of Mediterranean sight lines from the helm, any sort of bow rise and your visibility is impaired. For the most part Americans like to stand or lean at the helm, while Europeans seem to like to sit (which might explain it). Not sure why a boat that small with IPS would have a bow thruster ... ehh ... more maintenance that isn't really needed. One quick comment about the Volvo Joystick ... what you exampled is not really how it works. In docking mode you can move the entire boat forward or backward, to port, or to starboard, or rotate port or starboard (twist) but it only accepts one input at a time. If that one has the Joystick driving feature it pretty much makes the wheel redundant. (couldn't tell if it had the right graphic on the buttons). Once you get used to the throttles though the joystick docking mode will seem slow. There is also a feature that will hold pressure on a dock which is invaluable if you are single handing.

Thanks for commenting. Do they make a joystick that goes at angles? I was told how to use it on a Hinkley that had jet drives and they said that’s what it did.

Shipyards should start adding solar panels to these motor yachts. 400nm ranges on a full tank just doesn't cut it anymore. IMHO.
@hithere73824 ай бұрын
@@tigerlancer I saw a 42' catamaran from 2002 that some physics teacher and his wife bought for 200k in south america and then refitted it with 7200w of solar panels and replaced the drivetrains with 48v motors. He retained the 4 cylinder diesel engines (2) and put large genheads on them and it runs like the Gato, Balao, and Tambor class submarines in the USN except the solar panels and the integrated circuits in the solar charge controllers and way better than Sargo batteries.
@tigerlancer4 ай бұрын
@@hithere7382 oh yeah, I dream about installing solar panels and wind turbine on electric motors on a 35ft cat. Too bad 6nm is the fastest speed attainable on such a set up, today.
@hithere73824 ай бұрын
@@tigerlancer I think that's fine though for not having to spend money on fuel if you're not in a hurry. That one can do 9 knots but the diesels have to be running too.

Most of the channels i watch do not stick to a rigid plan. I like the idea of you doing the trawler style but its ok to deviate at times.
