That's a great area! Beautiful scenery to mileage options. I've explored much of that on two wheels and some of it on four. Thanks for sharing Pete! Enjoyed your commentary.

Hey Erin, glad you like the videos! And sorry about that, I thought KZbin did CC automatically for videos. But the CC is up on the video now. I will try to make sure CC is added on future videos too :)

I got lucky the weather turned out so great towards the end of the ride :) Do you bike too?
@cyclistpete3 жыл бұрын
I should have looked at your channel! if you are in the area, im starting to setup some chill group gravel rides. they will be pretty fun, smaller groups and nothing too far away or difficult.

it was pretty rad, nice being pretty close to Seattle also. I'll be going back probably later this spring to check out the area I didn't make it into on this ride

Hey Pete. I’m planning the Washington parks loop #2 in August 13-28th. Im gonna be solo on a road bike and try to lodge nightly. Just wondering if you might wanna join for some of it and maybe guide a bit since I don’t know the area. Any recommendations appreciated.
@cyclistpete Жыл бұрын
Hey Felipe! Sorry for the late response I have been away from youtube for a while. Yeah, I might be interested in joining your ride for part of it. That sounds like a good time! Maybe when you are near Rainier I could meet up with you for a day. I have some other trips planned around then, but I could probably make it work on a weekday, or two. Can you send me a message on facebook? Seach Peter Ballasiotes

Looks fun. what sort of gearing do you have for those climbs? Also I'm looking at new wheels, would you recommend 24h rims for these roads?

The garmin link isn't working :( any chance you could make it a RWGPS route? Love the video! This ride looks stellar!
@cyclistpete3 жыл бұрын
Sorry the link isnt working, try one of these, .fit and .gpx files I just downloaded from garmin. drive.google.com/drive/folders/1-6D-coiEpcnDkqlkMR5zY6b_G2YdjP1U?usp=sharing I dont have time at the moment to make a RWGPS route, but I might start doing that in the future! Hope that works and you enjoy the ride!

Great clip of the ride! What size tires and wheels are they ?
@cyclistpete3 жыл бұрын
Thanks! The tires here are the WTB Resolute. They are decent tires. And the wheels are the Reynolds ATR (or ATR X). They are an excellent set of carbon gravel wheels if you are in the market. But they work great on the road with road tires also. I’ve put them through the wringer and they’ve had some heavy impacts, and have never had any issues. Only needed to replace the bearings. And the free hub sounds amazing

Do you carry anything for bears/cougars? How about communication devices? I’m paranoid about having a catastrophic failure out there and needing help to abound a 10 mile hike out! Lol
@cyclistpete4 жыл бұрын
Steven Vargas Yo glad you like the vid! For communications I have a cellphone and my Garmin can send out emergency signals too. I have a backup battery pack for my phone/Garmin also. Yeah there’s always a chance of having a longggg hike out haha but the kind of failure that would cause that, broken wheel or handlebars, would be really rare. Just about everything else should be fixed or partially repaired with my extra stuff I bring along. Right now I bring a pocketknife for animal protection, but some bear spray for cougars would be a safer way to go, I’ll be packing that soon!
@jwhoward1824 жыл бұрын
Been there, exactly there and all over Central Washington. The bear ran. Cougars have abundant natural prey. Nothing to worry about.
@cyclistpete4 жыл бұрын
@@jwhoward182 yeah, I don't think black bears would be wanting to mess with anyone. same with cougars. however, a cougar did kill a mountain biker in the area two years ago. cougar attacks are ultra rare, but have happened. so it wouldn't hurt to be extra safe with some bear spray

Cyclist Pete if you’re referring to this: www.king5.com/article/news/local/mountain-lion-attack-reported-near-north-bend/281-555709031 you’re looking at once in a hundred year event. Living in Seattle and driving to the Cascades should be positively terrifying in comparison. None of us who spend time in the mountains understand why the authorities supported the survivor’s decision to leave his friend. They other issue left out was the age of the cat and it’s health.
