After this stage I thought: This was perfect. Movistar was doing a GREAT job, INEOS doing the best they could, but Movistar and Valverde too strong and smart. The way he looked around to check if someone dangerous was on his wheel before he proceeded to finish off Tao G.Hart, delicious!

@ryanphelan68613 жыл бұрын
Seriously especially recently but look at recent roster quintana, soler, mas, landa all emotional guys not really made for, im trying not to say trident lol, but multiple leaders fragile egos. helps to have alejandro he is like duct tape:) but what a pull by superman he has cojones and should do well there he takes bull by horns they lost that with carapaz!!! Rojas has always been solid, verona, losing amador hurt a guy much more useful to movistar than ineos. They might just be turning corner in time toi win another team classification in tour!!!!

I had assumed hell would freeze over when Movistar displays effective team work and tactical intelligence
@sharonmoller74143 жыл бұрын
@@ryanphelan6861 I agree, the documentary seemed to show the old trident leaders were being eaten up by anxiety (landa and soler especially) with Quintana cutting himself off to preserve his sanity. So little empathy shown to Carapaz for signing for Ineos, “he’s all about the money” well of course he is, he’s from Ecuador. He’s no doubt financially supporting his entire extended family with his Ineos salary, with plenty of change left over to live a comfortable lifestyle himself. I assumed Amador was signed to be a key domestique for Bernal and Carapaz. Perhaps he’s less significant now that Ineos has Martinez. He could probably go back to Movistar if he cared to?
@ryanphelan68613 жыл бұрын
@@sharonmoller7414I hear ya I'm sure movistar would take him remember Superman bashing Alejandro as poor world champion and he signed they need an Amador Castro is more I think one that does his job and does it great. Dani is dauphine winner and might have been strongest , certainly climber for all 3weeks, at giro could win a vuelta or giro does everything well but descend. Ganna getting him since not best descender and bringing him to pull Egan is why ineos win down to small details.. All the best to Richie I love how he rides movistar have nothing to be bitter about , I don't know that they even are just stress with press main reason landa bounced too. I agree get paid while you can these kids from these countries what an opportunity right? He earned it he got them that giro riding with grinta even sprinting for stages. I understand old hinault and lemond let road decide but as soon as you can commit resources don't have three leaders nevermind tempermental. Ineos are so good at that when froome took over at vuelta in 2011 ,Thomas tour 18, bernal tour 19 they are pros pros, well oiled machine, I don't blame people for wanting to be surrounded by such a professional squad. Always taken care of on and off road. Quintana was so gifted just a very sensitive guy he needed to feel the support it certainly helped I agree.

sorry, what does that mean? I know who Kyrie Irving is but all I was able to find from a quick google was him getting makeup to make him look old...
@cycleoflife5653 жыл бұрын
Well you may be aware that Kyrie is one of the greatest ball handlers in the league’s history so in that respect “reaching” is not advisable or you will likely just be embarrassed when he goes into his flashy bag of ball handling tricks. Valverde is, as the commentator stated, one of the best among the climber/gc guys in an uphill sprint even at his very advanced age. His uphill sprint being comparable to Kyrie’s elite ball handling skills in this analogy.

He has ridden for teammates. But on rare occasions and not im full form/with full effort. But he is an exceptional rider and thus allowed to do what he does, imo. I have great respect for Sagan that he is helping his teammates selflessly from time to time, but I think, he doesn't HAVE to do this.

I got the impression from the Movistar documentary that Valverde is a good man. As for being a domestiqie for others, no, but he IS a team player. The documentary suggests to me that AV is a steady influence on the rest of the team, which tends to be quite volatile. He's earned his stripes, literally.

I found it so interesting watching MAL on the front pulling like you pointed out. At that speed he was riding as you say road wasn’t steep. MAL was pulling like a locomotive! Which makes me wonder why MAL’s TT results are so inconsistent, clearly he has a decent engine. Sure he’s not anything like Ganna, but if it’s a mental fortitude thing, when he starts losing time mid-TT he capitulates, then surely this problem can be fixed? I assumed Movistar would be the wrong team to address that. But against my expectations, MAL looks like a great signing for Movistar and he’s making confident team leader decisions mid-race, so now I’m thinking there’s probably more exciting performances yet to come from him.
