I don't understand. These machines were not in good enough condition to sell, right? That's fair enough. But I can see plenty of parts there that hobbyists would pay good money for! Translites, sets of legs, boards, toppers, coin doors. Almost every part imaginable. I find it impossible to believe that nobody would buy these parts if you put them up for sale (or gave them away). Personally I don't think any game is ever beyond repair. It just takes skill, patience and passion to do it. It really is a shame that these machines went to waste.

People, put yourselves in the context - this was filmed 14 years ago! Back then people were massively dumping tonnes of perfectly good CRT monitors that today they are selling for crazy prices on ebay. Popular rcade PCBs were below $100 and boxed SNES games $20-30 . Arcade machines were rotting away in the backyards of former arcade playrooms etc etc.

In another video he said they took all the good parts out and replaced them with broken ones that are too gone to be fixed to make people think they're wasting these machines. Back in '92 when I went to school, we had a two week "work experience" program where you chose and had to make a deal with whichever company you wanted to work with (for no pay) yourself. I spent my days at a local arcade shop while my classmates worked at grocery stores and factories. One of my tasks was to bash a partially dismantled Blasteroids cab to pieces by hammer. I also played RoadBlasters and Afterburner II a lot, probably because those were two of the countless cabs in the shop that worked more or less like they were supposed to do. I've always regretted killing that Blasteroids cab until I saw this, thank you!
