Well, I can’t comment munch on longevity on the 500 but my little one I bought three years ago is still working OK it’s just I wanted to buy one that I didn’t have to keep trying to get my iPhone to link up to then they sent me the 500 to do a review on but for what little I’ve used it it seems to be a great piece of equipment. You might ask them to have you try out their 5MP version. Looks like the DS 580 with a shorter 10 foot probe might be best suited to your engine work.
