Well the Gulf Stream is a pretty brisk mover of vast amounts of water tbh, not a place to get stuck in a wind versus current predicament even further up the East Coast of the USA. I was into some pretty big Seas on a Crossing to Bermuda, when a Tornado Warning was given for the area, and I had to turn around and run like hell for shelter, so as not to get caught in it.😅 that was a pretty fun sail tbh, and I did make it into the Harbour of Refuge in Rhode Island and got well prepped before the Tornadoes hit. A Memorable night of vivid purple lightning, and the first tornado hit a starboard side so hard, the VHF aerial on the top of the Mast, was under Water on the Port side, and Pushed my oversized Lewmar Delta out sideways, so I had to fly it through the Boats behind me and reset it. If it hadn’t broken out, I think I’d have been swimming tbh. Once set, we got clipped by a few more Tornadoes, and she didn’t budge. That was a genuine Lewmar by the way, not one of the many counterfeit Deltas that are around. An impressive Anchor imho, and it was on the end of great American triple Galvanised steel. Full marks from me. Just so glad I wasn’t in the Gulf Stream for that tbh. Best Wishes and Fair Winds to all. Bob in Wales, who is itching to place an Order for an IP 439.
