44 - Initial Car Inspection Issues

We had a car come in that had several small problems and how I dealt with them.

This all looks like a combination of lack of skill and fast turn around in the repair shops. If I worked at a rail car repair shop, I would be scared to send out a sub par job, especially on a hazmat car.

Can you elaborate some more on exactly what you are looking for? That might help me. Have you tried aar.org? This website is a little tricky to navigate for me, but there is a lot of info available. All of the major carriers have policies for their operations online I believe. Norfolk Southern has an employee operations policy that might have what you want.

So was all the gas you get in non-odorized? Do you have to put stickers on the cars and things like that If something's missing are you just do it for safety?

All of the propane coming into my place is fully odorized. Federal hazmat code says that odorized propane can be shipped in cars marked as non-odorized, but all of the paperwork for the car has to prove that it is odorized. I am allowed to replace a few stencils/decals if needed, Liquefied Petroleum Gas, Non-Odorized and Plate C. Nothing else. The lettering I mentioned is required on all of these cars, so if I cannot put on new ones, the car will have to be sent to someplace that can. Hope this helps, thanks.
