The last few April Fool's updates have included some features that acted as prototypes/tests for future real features. Want to take bets on which features here might become the basis of real stuff in 2.22 or later? Frying table maybe? Or a grappling hook? Maybe an entirely new dimension (less potato-themed, I'd assume)?

To me, this shows that they've streamlined the process of adding new content a lot ever since the community started raging about a lack of content in updates. Plus, the custom dimension support added after the infinity snapshot likely made it much easier to make the potato dimension. Obviously they did this without QA, parity, or futureproofing, but if this is what they're able to do in their off-time, 1.22's looking good. And as many others have said, content from this update which is cool (i.e. the floataters and grappling hook) does have a chance to get into future updates, especially considering that prior april fools features have been added to the base game (like the aforementioned dimensions).

Yeah, but they're testing new features here, of course it'll have more content than main updates. Also, it's pretty buggy. They'll refine some of these to add it for main updates though.

There is a difference between more content, less effort, and literally 10x the content at only 0.5x the quality. Like certain implementations of things usually take a long time, but if we could get that much content at a higher quality by having less updates the I would be open to that. We also don’t know how long they actually worked on the April fools updated if it was like a week then there is no reason for the lack of content if they spend 6 months on regular content. Even at a entire month it still is crazy the amount of content at a lower quality when their have 6 months to complete less content at a higher quality and still manage to not be at a extremely high quality (bugs that have been around for years breaking the game as well as other issues). Either way it is fair to say that a lot of this update simply copies what already exists, but not everything.
