At the age of 72 I bought a CF Moto 300nk based purely on reviews. I have now covered 2000 trouble free miles. Bike is nimble. Not particularly quick but will cruise at 70mph quite happily. So far I,am delighted with my purchase. Comfortable seating position, all controls eaßy to use. May add a windscreen at some point, we'll see. 😊😊😊

Absolutely loved this video. So much great info on the bikes and chinese manufacturing. I own a cfmoto 300 ss and its a great little bike. Light, only 30bhp but now run in will do 0 to 60 mph in 6.5 sec, handles beautifully and can change your line mid corner. Av 80 mpg, gently thrashing it everywhere 😂. I also own a honda Transalpine 650 2003 which I also love. Amazing insight into the chinese MC market.

Chinese motorcycle has definitely improved in later years. They were awful things! My nextdoor neighbour bought 3 one for himself, one for his wife and one for his son . Ive lost count on the times i had to go round to get the things running for them . Fast forward 6-7 years and im considering either a cfmoto or a voge 👍

HUZZAH!! Here in America we don't get many of these. CFMoto? Yup. Benelli? Yup! Royal Alloy? Yup! Sym? Yup! I dropped by our local CFMoto dealer early today but there still do not have the 450MT in. Most Benellis are sold by dealers as "used but new in the crate" bikes. Weird. Where does one get one serviced? We do not have tiered licensing here but I doubt that would make much difference as most young folk today just stare at their phones. They don't even exercise unless forced to by their school and it is a rare sight indeed to see a full on pedal bicycle with anyone riding it. Most are electrics with either an obese adult or a mental youth at the controls. I very much enjoyed this episode! Thank you! SS in commiefornia, USA.

I support Chinese Bikes as long as they have the dealership assurance behind them, unfortunately, half of these brands are distributed under MotoGB which are one of the worst for customer service in the country therefore do not expect your bike purchase to be covered under warranty without any issues as they will not help you, the bike will be sitting off the road for months before they can even get the parts in to sort it out and this is if they are willing to honour their warranty claims which more often they choose to ignore you.
@Thegeordiemonkey

Downside for most of them is dealer network, parts availability, aftermarket parts for some and longevity and reliability, i dont hate them, had several china build 125s, currently have a skyteam dax replica and my honda monkey, the dax is 12yrs old and has 700kms on it, been in shed a year as electrics are crap, i have had 4 of them now but know what i am getting into and parts are cheap to buy.

I tell you, 5 years back a Chinese smartphone could be broke in 6 months, now they use a Smartphone for at least 2/3 years without problems (Xiaomi) Other products too. China will be the No.1 soon. Specially if they get a leading role in Brics. European Electric Vehicles are passed by the Chinese allready...they sell more then EU and or USA.

Chinese automotive and motorbike brands have evolved throughout the years. They are not the bad products, laking 80% quality due to poor quality control as 20 years ago might have been. As you say, most electronic related household products have chinese components, and being real, we have to admit that china is being dominant in all fields. I've owned Benelli Tnt300, now Zontes T310, and have driven for some time in the past Honda Transalp, Cb250, XR250, etc. And every brand has its ups and downs. Benelli and Zontes offer reliability, and a good cost-benefit relation. I think that China will be involved in producing traditional brand bikes soon, and will probably buy some also (just as what has happened with some car brands). The only thing we have to have in mind is not to treat the bike for what it wasn't meant for. Don't expect to race a Dakar, nor enter a motocross race with a Zontes T310, its not made for that purpose. If you mantain your chinese bike, and use it accordingly, you will enjoy it.

Thanks I would love to buy a Chinese scooter, but I live in the one region of UK where there are no dealers. Getting from Wight to the main island is expensive. I bought a Honda Forza this year hoping the extra pep in the ECU motor would help on the gradients. The performance is fine but the seat is either too wide or too tall for me. Unfortunately there was no demo bike. Leaning on my left toe I'm ok. Leaning the other way I end up being a bit of a clown show, stopped in the carriageway. Don't ride IDLE STOP if your hemmed in with cages. Anyway there is my warning to other short riders. I might have to trade it for Royal Alloy.

Its not just stigma with Chinese bikes and in fairness iscnot an accurate portrait of the market to simplify the issue this way. Its a fact that Japanese companies have long term r&d strategies which they put substantial amounts of money into, where the Chinese Market strategy is to focus on new models made at a price point and frequent new offerings. Now one can debate the finer points of both but what is not debatable is the Japanese quality in motorcycles is far superior. I have a 2009 r125 which my daughter is learning to ride on. Its done 40k miles and not a single mechanical problem. Its not even like it has been really well maintained just the minimum and oil change every 1k miles they will run forever, its in great condition inside the engine case like new almost. Try getting that on a lex! Not guna happen. Chinese bikes are built like cars with a degree of planned obsolescence, Japanese bikes no such thing geta honda and will last forever and start every single morning no matter how cold. Its a no brainer.

Yes a stigma attached to bike manufactures. The Brits never got over their decline, until Hinkley. Norton still hasn't recovered their greatness. It would have been good if back in the day, the British bike industry had quality controls to, but it didn't. Rectifying poor design and poorly manufactured components, design flaws and careless build quality was left to owners and companies like SRM to fix in subsequent years. I would even go so far as to say that all BSA's built in the 1960 and 70's are better bikes now than they were when made, through the dedication of owners and engineering companies to remedy all their problems. Mine is certainly more reliable with an oil cooler, oil feed to big end mods done etc.

Having owned a Benelli 250 2c back in the 70s and remembering the wonderful "Italian" electrics( sarcasm fully meant) they would have to be better. I keep listen to your price and think Wow that's cheap. Then I remember you are talking in pounds not Australian $ and realise it's about the same price. IMO the best thing about the Royal Alloy 300 is that you can buy them with a sidecar fitted straight from the shop. I always think of my old Kawasaki GPX 250 when you mention that brand.

In case anyone wants to know from an unbias perspective if Chinese last longer than other brands, you dont have to really rely on opinion. They is website called "how many left" with statistical data on the amount of units sold, currently and past licensed and sorn. With chinese bikes you will see they is a dramatic rise in sorn and unlicensed units years after launch compared to a mainstream brand equivalent. Data doesn't lie folks.

Speaking of copies of other people's bikes. I for one can't tell the make of a liquid cooled japanese sports bike these days because there is so much plastic and they all look like transformers. The engines have little or no character in the looks department either. The only think l recognise on them that generally distinguishes - if l can be bothered - is the colours. You know, black and green kawasaki, grey, blue white and red honda; yellow and black, Yamaha, blue metallic, suzuki. So, as far as l am concerned they may as well come from the same company. Is that illegal?

That's Not 30 or 40 years ago. That is more like 54 years ago 1970. Even now Chinese bikes mostly have way shorter service intervals than Honda , Yamaha etc. A Sure sign they are still nowhere near as reliable. Their resale. Devalue also reflects this.

When you go off on the "aircooled bikes" with problems ones and such.. And the examples you chose are what, the Honda clone CG125 engines based on the Lifan that Honda allowed (licensed..)? Do you know the entire history of Lifan's acquiring the tooling for their CG based engines that everyone and their dog cloned in China? Honda sent to Lifan their entire factory tooling for making the CG series. The bike Honda meant for 3rd world markets where maintenance would be infrequent, the same model made in Brazil for South American markets. The CEO of Lifan was interviewed in The Guardian online about their rise to being a global manufacturer. He didn't have nice things to say about Honda's old tooling. Lifan spent over 300 million of their own capitol rebuilding the tooling to ISO 9001 specifications. Honda basically sent Lifan their tooling that should have been scrapped. Lifan did not "steal" the Honda CG125 CG engine. And also their CG200 version is still being made and it's pretty rugged and has a few improvements over the older Honda CG model(s). Considering the CG engines are a very clever OHV design that revs up to 8K, and they last in abusive use and primitive environments.

@@motorsforthemasses Well I own a CG200 based engined bike. It's now got over 80K in miles. With modern bikes, yes the OHC GN 125 clones predominate, but you presented in your list a few aircooled bike's images with the CG engine clones. If it was "weirdly lecturish", you're the one who misrepresented this older engine design. I do my research and I'm friends with folks who are CG engine enthusiasts, they are some of the most durable of the early 20-aughts made Chinese aircooled engines. They came in several designs including a counterbalanced and semiauto clutch with reverse for ATVs.

I mean l love the look of the CFMoto 800, adventure bike, but it weighs the same as my BMW R1150GS and has far less power and torque. That bike should be at least a 1000cc or better still, as a twin, 1200cc. I am 100kg, anything smaller than say the T100 865 triumph (a shit bike), l owned is not powerful enough to install confidence in me on the road, unless it has torque like the Kawasaki W800 with its under square piston stroke, bore dimensions.

@@motorsforthemasses What I'm trying to make clear is that CF Moto makes KTM engines 'Under License' which means they use KTM blueprints for manufacture. You made it sound like CF Moto make their own designed engines, which in some cases may be true, but not the 390, 690 or 790.

@@petelyden8193doesn’t that show that CF have the quality control measures in place and support of a quality motorcycle company like KTM. I think you and Motor for the Masses are in agreement!

Why would we support Chinese bikes, directly or indirectly?
@SS-ck3ew
@SS-ck3ew Ай бұрын
Hmmmm...If they support you via affordable (not CHEAP!), quality made motorbikes then why would you not buy one? Any reason at all is fine for you and you alone. For others it may well come down to that is what they can afford and they want and need a warranty. The few CFMoto bikes I have seen (and met the owners) here in the USA are for all intents and purposes, excellent or so their owners say. I have not met nor seen a Benelli on the road here. Again, if you do not want one, then do not buy one. There are excellent brands from China and then there are garbage ones. Do your own research and decide. Yes or No. Either way it's your choice and does not affect anyone else. All the best! SS in commifornia, USA.

The CF Moto CLX is one ugly ducking, and it needs a restyle, immediately. Then watch the sales climb. What China has in common with Japan, is that they're entering 20 years of economic stagnation, or what was called “the lost decade in Japan.” Obviously, that lasted 20 years. China couldn't prop up their economy anymore and the countries declining population that's projected to cause a tax/labour shortage leading to a decline on GDP, a large population of elderly and fewer people to look after them. That's the tip of the iceberg with China. Some claim economic collapse. As we speak there's a polycrises taking place in the China, things are a mess. It will be interesting to see what becomes of manufacturing in the next decade, imagine China moving manufacturing to India or Thailand?

@@beberforumer9715 The Chinese government set a growth target of 5% by and got it, but the general consensus is that they cooked the books to get there, they couldn't reach 5% using stimulus, that says something. Chinese companies will still advance, the tech sector is more important than ever with the slowing economy since the data shows that is losing its manufacturing dominance.
