You wanna climb the ladder in WoW? Maybe join the 0.5% of players that make it to Gladiator status? Well I don't wanna waste time making three different videos you have to wait for, so here's 45 tips from a 2400 player!

In the whole 40 minutes of this video turns out there is a single false tip. 22:55-23:17 is not correct. I claimed Mages had to reactivate Alter Time to use it, so CC'ing them at the end of it's duration would lock them out of gaining any benefits. This is false. I experienced a bug in gameplay that led me to believe it was true and after testing every single kind of CC I can say none of them stop Alter Time. I wrote that tip around a bug I can't even recreate smh. However, Mages will still have to wait the full duration of any CC you threw at them even if they're teleported away by Time Alter during that CC.

You can purge it though and in most cases it's best to lock him down precisely so that he panics into block or procs cheath death( or optimallyboth)... but only on good uptime and if you're sure, otherwise its wasted dmg and cds. So tip for more xped ppl and not the" Zug Zug I ignore everything around me" solo shuffle warys :p

Omg 😆 I had almost forgotten pikaboo did a gameplay review of my rogue and you brought it back with my terrible UI I had back then. I want to say that I listened to every word he said and changed my shit up, deleted multiple add-ons, and played almost 700 rounds of solo shuffle and I hit 1800 for that transmog set. I was hard stuck about 1400-1500 when pika did that review of my gameplay so... less is more sometimes is my advice, my awareness felt a lot better when I got rid of 90% of the bullshit on my screen (I still like gladiatorlossa though 😅 I just turned off a whole shit load of spells so it just tells me the big ones and not every detail like when a warrior changes into battle stance lol). Plan this season is to try my hardest to get 2100 for the shadowflame weapon enchant thingy, dunno if it's realistic to climb another 300 points in a season but I met my goal of 1800 last season so it's time to push it a little bit.

If it's solo shuffle you're pushing as dps your biggest challenge to grinding rating will literally just be Q times lmao! I'm sure sooner or later I'll have an urge to get a solid 3s team together and get even more work in, but I'm just not feeling it yet, I like being a solo Andy. Insanely good guide. I'm subscribed to the paid version of skill capped, I've watched dozens of arena guides from popular streamers, but this is hands down the most helpful video I've ever seen. Plus your similes are on point! Could you expand more on tip 9? I'm aware there are scripts for popular comps, but I don't know what they are our where to find them online.

I am seriously over joyed by your kind words! Tip #9 is kind of a two parter. First half being play by the script, second half being admitting your own faults can help coerce your teammates into admitting theirs so you can all improve. The latter is easier to understand, but the former is not so much. Everyone understands how internet pride can interfere with good teamwork, but playing by the script is something that comes from a lot of experience. The best analogy I can think of is saying it's like chess. There are a ton of pieces and possible moves you/your team could make to win the game. But if you were to plug in a super computer chess master AI to play the game, it would boil down all the variables and possibilities to one algorithmically objectively best pattern. That is to say that in theory there is always an objectively correct way any one comp should play against any other. But that is just on paper. Part of what makes PvP so much more engaging than PvE (imo) is the unpredictability of human reaction. Chess masters can and have beaten robots designed with no other purpose than winning chess. "The Script" is the idealized method and order of plays your team should make to achieve the highest possible chance of winning. So I can't very well break down all the match ups for you, but this is the discussing you should be having with your team before/after matches and while you're in the starting gate. Unfortunately I don't know of anywhere online that breaks down every script quite so easily. If you're into studying the arena though, I'd recommend watching streamers who play with consistent teammates and preferably your comp of choice. Start watching their vods or videos where they actively communicate with their team, and then compare the matches where they face the same comp. If you were to line up every AssaRogue/DesttoLock/Presvoker vs Ret/Arms/RSham match that you team of choice plays, you should start to notice the same call outs and efforts. Take notes on these games of what is consistent. Take notes on what breaks the consistency. Note your teams win/loss conditions and what immediately proceeds achieving either one. Learning these things through personal experience is usually what constitutes any players understanding of "The Script". I'm sorry I typed you a whole book here, but that's what I meant when I said it's not so easy to understand. Hope it helps! TL;DR: Just keep playing the game. After enough experience and consistency you will naturally learn the patterns of winning matches against specific comp matchups.

awesome vid - you mention playing alts is a great way to learn the game, to prepare for different scenarios which i completely agree. however, do you have any recommendations to learn all of the ins and outs of a class (offensives, defensives, CC, CC breaks) without actually playing them as an alt? I just don’t want to max level every character and farm honor gear for each. I was thinking reading through the omnibar spells for each class, or possibly the class trials. wanted to get your thoughts on it though!

Glad you enjoyed! :D I still think leveling alts is the best way to learn because you get the "feel" of a class over just knowing their toolkit. But just reading their kit is definitely good enough to start! I'd recommend using GladiusEX instead of omnibar to read up on spells. Both add-ons can do this, but I like GEX CDs because you can hover your mouse over any ability and read the tool tip. This let's you read your opponents most important abilities before the gates open without opening menus. OmniBar I usually only use to track kicks. Seeing all the important spells locked the enemy health bar helps me keep track and learn better. You still might not be aware of specific mechanics or how talents change their spells but those come naturally with time. Last thing I might suggest is if you wanna know a little more about a class, without reading tons of talents and watching guides is find a streamer playing it or something. You can learn a TON just watching and listening, i know i have. Even get questions directly answered sometimes. Hope this helps!

one thing that i wanted to add for a specific situation in rather low mmr aswell so it might not be useful to a lot of ppl. If you are able to start on a enemy warlock before they can setup their portals it could be a free win a lot of them get flustered and cant kite at all = free damage uptime for you. Ive done this few times as warrior and works well as long as i dont LOS my healer and their lock does not transition well. Small tip for fellow newbies.

26:55 grounding doesnt work like that with execution sentance, in order to ground it the shaman needs to cast it when ES is about to land. So on the last 3 sec of it's duration. What you just did there was compleatly wrong and the shaman will get 0 value out of it, ret can press ES when grounding is up, it wont get grounded but it will keep going like always, 12 sec in air.

I assume you mean sArena and GladiusEX which I layered on one another. GEX shows the CDs on top of each enemy bar, and sArena is everything else. I copied Aeghis 1 to 1 for that. Someone actually asked that exact question in my Discord recently. If you wanna join and scroll up in general chat, I explained the whole thing and included the Lua files for you to download. Lmk if you need help implementing it :)

I'm glad someone watched long enough to catch that joke lol. Targeting is all personal preference, I'd say it's not fast enough because I like to use arena123 macros for each CC as well as targeting. This allows me to sheep someone without having to target them and can throw off enemy predictions. For sheep I use: #showtooltip /cast [nomod, @arena1, exists, nodead] [nomod] Polymorph(Black Cat) /cast [mod:shift, @arena2, exists, nodead] Polymorph(Black Cat) /cast [mod:ctrl, @arena3, exists, nodead] Polymorph(Black Cat) This macro will always sheep my target if arena1,2,3 don't exist. Otherwise it allows me to consolidate keybind using modifiers. F is my sheep for target/arena1. shit+F is arena 2, Ctrl+F is arena 3. I then use normal arena target macros for Counterspell and Spellsteal. But I throw in a cancelaura Ice Block line too so I can kick/SS out of Ice Block before it ends to get the jump on a caster. #showtooltip /cancelaura ice block /stopcasting /stopcasting /cast [@arena1, exists, nodead] [@target] Counterspell The only other macros I rly use is an Alter Time cancelaura in case I end up in a a better spot after casting it, and a Cannibalize macro that will let me use undead cannibalize racial and mage food on the same global. That one comes in clutch when you only have a few seconds to get health back and happen to have a corpse lying around. /cancelaura Alter Time #showtooltip Cannibalize /cast Cannibalize(Racial) /use Conjured Mana Bun

​@@a.a.6464 I technically do yeah but I don't use all 12 in game. Most of my classes only need top two rows. Some get the third row. None in my experience need all 4 rows. I bound my mmo mouse buttons to the F keys because I have some spells on the number row and I use the numpad for OBS scene transitions. Top row is mostly utility, and second row is for arena enemies. So F4 would be target arena 1, Shift+F1 is Counterspell arena 1, Ctrl+F1 is SS arena 1 , then F5=Arena2 and F6=Arena3. You can use Ctrl+Shit and Alt modifiers as well. If you do utilize alt modifiers though definitely swap F4 with F7 or something. Too many times when I was learning to use this mouse did I alt+F4 out of the game lmaoo.​

Fortunately the steps for gearing are the same for everyone! Firstly you can buy your green combatants gear from the AH for a quick ilv boost. Then you accept all the weekly pvp and sparks quests offered in the pvp room in valdrakkan. Knock those out in BGs, EBGs, Skirmishes, Brawls, etc to grind honor points and do the sparks quests for epic crafted gear. Once you have high enough ilv from that you can que ranked pvp which is where you get conquest points for your rated pvp set! Some of those pieces you'll want to turn into tier gear at the revival catalyst. Which pieces varies by spec, I'd check what the top rated PvPers for ur desired specs are doin. Unlike previous expansions all you need to do for pvp gear this expac is pvp! So accept the quests, run some BGs for now and have fun 😎 Feel free to ask any more questions here or in my discord! @@NkenKenY everything is cross realm nowadays so it doesn't really matter what realm you're on or if it's a pve/pvp server. You can do the rated arena when you have the required ilv. All servers are basically the same now but I think Tichondrius is biggest NA Horde PvP server

Half the tips: Get an addon. All addons should be removed from PVP, so skill is needed. Not Weak Aura tracking.

Half is a little dramatic, but it's a tough situation for sure. I'd be okay with removing add-ons from the whole game if Blizzard could bake in all the essentials to the base game. The problem with that is it would likely take Blizzard 10+ years to implement that in a way the playerbase would appreciate. A classic corporate move of screwing your loyal audience to "appeal to a wider audience" (type "The Thing They Want Meme" into google). The lid is already off panora's box so to speak. I don't think Blizzard is capable of giving us the ability to customize our interface to the degree 50 add-ons do for us now. That said if I could snap my fingers for a magical fix I would. It's not a great experience for new players. But don't get it twisted, there's still A TON of skill required in PvP now in the state it's in and it's a lot of fun 😁

Why? There is a massive range of skill levels. At first it takes a little bit to get to where you belong (you'll likely lose a lot until you get to the proper level, short term pain) but eventually you will settle into a place where you have more even games. From there if you enjoy it, you just play to have fun and improve at your own pace. No one is calling for chess to be made easier because it's difficult for new people. Don't ruin it for the people that enjoy it. If you still don't have fun when you have more fair matches it might just not be for you.

I just put this list together to help others progress with what I know, and no one wants information from anyone claiming to be anything other than Glad. And ftr, I've only played for fun this season. I don't have any teammates to push Glad with. I know the ladder is incredibly deflated and I know my limits are far beyond 2.2k at least. Why stress over rating when I can have fun and make videos instead? So even though I myself may not be one, most of the information on this list was outsourced from other actual Gladiators, reddit posts, and streamers as stated up front in the video ( 0:35 ). My not being a Glad doesn't make any of the advice in this video any less relevant, and reading the comments around here and my post in r/worldofpvp I think I've succeeded in helping :) Consider me guilty of clickbait officer, take me away! ¯\_ (ツ)_/¯
