Quick question, how did you adjust the crimp die using a factory loaded round? (I have not reloaded yet for ammo with a crimp) - Thanks
@benharrington-competitives96114 жыл бұрын
Jerome C I started with the die backed off and ran a factor round all the way up with the ram and then adjusted the die down until it came into contact with the factory round. After that I lowered the ram with the factory round and adjusted the crimp die down another 1/4 turn. Hope that info helps you

I recently tried reloading for this exact bullet combo for my gun. I sized the cases with the lee die set and the Barnes were very loose in the case. Shouldn’t they be tight like they are in a bottle neck? I added a crimp to them but don’t like the way the load turned out. I loaded 10 and I’m going to pitch them and try again with a different set of dies. Primed the cases and sized as per the die booklet. Lowered die to touch shell holder then lowered it a quarter turn down to make the press cam over. Not sure why they are so loose??

Two things, try IMR 4227 and it's all about the crimp! Factory crimp, try 1/8 turn at a time!

so whats more case life friendly the Taper crimp offered by Hornady or Lees FCD??
@benharrington-competitives96115 жыл бұрын
JMazterV112 to be honest all I have is the Hornady rapper crimp... based of experience with other calibers I would say the Lee FCD but have not tried it in the 450 Bushmaster yet

@@benharrington-competitives9611 awesome I'm looking at the Redding Dies and I'd seen RCBS offers a seater and taper crimping die I'm gonna try that one out, I have a Lee FCD for 223 but that one has 4 collet like clamps that pinch the brass and I don't wanna pinch my .70 cent pieces of brass too much lol

JMazterV112 I personally am a fan of the Lee FCD. I use it in all my long range reloads with Lapua brass and have never had an issue with them

I just looked it up in the Hodgden Annual Manual and 35.4 gr. is max load. The only powder listed that high is H4198; with 43 gr. as a max load (compressed). You do realize that you don't always get flattened primers, sticky extraction, or incipient case head separations before your firearm becomes a pipe bomb, right? I would at least verify using Ken Waters' case head expansion method before going too far with that load.

I dont use little gun. And I'm not a fan of starline brass most of the pistol brass is 15 to 20 thousands short

why is everyone fixed on lil gun, not 1 mention of 5744 or N200 or any alliant or accurate powders. Just fotocoping what everyone else is doing.

theres also H110 thats popular with the 450
@stonekold6 жыл бұрын
why would you need to resize new brass and that trickler doesnt have to do all the work, get a scoop and dump 20 grains in pan and cut your time in half. Also save yourself tons of money and get buffalo rifle powder instead of lil gun.

I think you need to totally redo this video. I just got a Dillon re-loader and have no clue what you are doing. Need to go step by step and not assume the viewer knows what you know.
