God damn, I'm a huge Tomac fan but Dungey has so much class. He got waxed and held his head high. This really impressed me. His response to the question about switching to the chase format was classy.

Was there and it was epic! I was seated next to the whoops where Tomac made his passes. Dungey is a class act and a great rider but Tomac's understated intensity does it for me. Watching him charge at a ridiculous pace is just awesome. He doesn't say much but you can see he is keeping words bottled up inside and saving it for the races. He handles himself very well too.

I love both these dudes! Both class acts, I am annoyed by the media. They make competition out to be a bad thing. These guys race to TRY and Best their competitor. They thrive on this stuff. I always played sports for competition more less the win. I feel these dudes are the same way, This has been a great season!!

10:08 Surely Dungey realizes that Tomac was faster than him on nearly every part of the track... That whoops section was just the most dramatic split between them. Fingers crossed that Tomac can keep it on two wheels and wrap up this epic comeback in the last two races.

Instead of a chase, what about east and west 450 divisions? 8 races each, maybe 3 races at the end. top 10 riders from each division makeup the field for the last 3 races. points start fresh. total shootout at the end. shorter season for riders. longer for fans. Speed is rewarded in the end.
@JamesOsyris
@JamesOsyris 7 жыл бұрын
Pointless. The whole reason there is a East/West 250 division is because 250 riders can't afford to go to every race. 450 riders make more money.
@lukebright2564
@lukebright2564 7 жыл бұрын
Good and bad. The shootout would be awesome, but you wouldn't see your favorite riders the whole season. Also totally eliminates longer consistency and the physical aspect, so the jump from 250 to 450 is practically pointless, so guys like Malcolm who is crazy fast but has trouble going from race to race every weekend, would come out swinging. Don't know, every way has its pros and cons. They need to do a survey, or just change nothing since this year has had record breaking tv views (except for the dumb FS2 showings since some companies don't carry it.

what is this Chase format?
@Racer57
@Racer57 7 жыл бұрын
Chase format comes from Nascar. There's different types as they have changed it over the years. I'm going to tell you what they use, they have a 36 race season. 1 Original Chase Format (2004-2006): Top 10 in points after 26 races get set apart in points from the rest of the field (other 33 drivers) and points are leveled. 10 races, whoever scores the most points in those 10 races wins the championship. 2 Expanded Chase Format (2007-2010): Expanded to Top 12 in points after 26 races. 3 Wildcard Chase Format(2011-2013): Back to Top 10 in points, but the 2 drivers with the most wins outside top 10 in points get wildcard spots to compete with the top 10 points drivers. 4 "The Grid" Chase Format(2014-2016): Everybody with a win and top 30 in points after 26 races is taken, top points drivers are taken to fill out remaining slots. After every 3 races in the 10 race format, 4 drivers are eliminated who have the lowest points after 3 races unless driver won one of those 3 races. Winning is an automatic transfer to next round. Last race is a 4 driver shootout with highest finisher crowned champion. I stopped watching after 2015. I couldn't following any other series, till I found supercross. Its exactly what I missed about old Nascar. Nascar will tell you its a success, but really the numbers have fallen every year since the iteration of the Chase. It really makes the, in Nascars case, first 26 races worth nothing in terms of the championship. As much as you disbelieve the drivers like it, they can't criticize it without being fined by Nascar's sanctioning body so its not clear if they enjoy it or not. For the fans, ts artificial excitement, manufactured drama. They say its for to grow the sport for the next generation, but your driving the fans that you built on away because your loosing the core values of consistency and hard work. Its for people with short term attention spans, and to reward everybody for being a winner because you can't hurt people feelings. And most of all, more times than not the driver that won the championship wasn't the driver the deserved it the most. It rewards short term success and not long term commitment. In my opinion, they need to change the points payout if they are going to change something. But honestly, consistency wins championships, I have no issues with the current format.

Changes to Supercross are needed but it's not the chase format. First of all dirt needs to be deeper especially in places where everyone is going to use the same inside line on a turn. Secondly, better designed tracks. Third, add an entry class based on districts. Go back to Friday practices and real qualifying. Lap times don't mean much when you're last in the first turn unles your name is Tomac or Dungey. And last, give Anderson an oxygen bottle....
@teemlee51

I agree on your points. If Jason where practising here in NM, where he's from, no oxygen would be needed.

Salt Lake is only 4000 ft.....when I was his age I was racing in Colorado at 10,000 ft. A drop down to Denver was really noticable. My son used to race at 5000 feet here in Arizona quite a bit. He has asthma and it didn't affect him but I've gotten sick fishing at 8000 when I was in my fifties. He just needs an o2 bottle. Surely his team can provide one of those small portables....he has to race where the races are. He missed Lakewood this year....

Tomac does not have the class or talent that Dungey has, If he did he would not have to ride like punk kid. He wasn't able to make a single pass without running into Dungey and Dungey passed him twice clean that's talent. It is obvious tomac is short on morals but you would think his team and Kawasaki would be embarrassed with that kind of behavior. The officials should of had something to say about that on a championship race. Who knows maybe you have to ride a Kawasaki like that to make it keep up with a KTM.
