I drove a first gen Sienna through the end of high school and a few years after that. I knew I was going to miss it when I had to part ways, but even then I had no idea. That thing was my Millennium Falcon and I will never forget it.

There are still tons and tons of these first generation Toyota Siennas on the road here in South Florida. I think there are more 1st Gen survivors still cruising around then gen 2 or even 3 Siennas. The Toyota 3.0 l V6 along with the 4 speed Auto we're both a pretty Bulletproof combo. Much better than the later more complicated powertrain offerings.

I got a 98 sienna for $850 off Craigslist. Runs perfect, was just dirty. After a detail I’m sure I can sell it for $1500 or so but I’m removing the back seats and gonna live in it with my dog and travel. It’s a great car

I just got a 2000 with 136K miles on it in mint condition. Interior looks brand new and was mechanically maintained meticulously!! The nostalgia alone was worth the 3K.

I'm about to do the same thing, did you end up living in it or driving it a lot how is the van? Thanks
@davidzimmerman81692 жыл бұрын
@@johnnyjames6283 I think the timing belt is going but it's still running strong and yes I live in it. Like 300k miles, I'll check later. I put hard wood flooring in the back, Im back in tacoma wa, I had $2400 in cash and full time job and still couldn't get a place so I'm stuck in my van but it's not bad. The only thing is I have to crawl on my knees a lot, so I had to make sure to wash my knees and use lotion or else you end up getting fucked up knees and when showering in community centers there's a risk of staph. I idea 5 gal bucket,soap water and a rag to clean my body when I can't get a shower so it's not that bad. If I was in a Subaru or a car it'd be total hell

I have a 100w solar panel on the roof connected to a 12v AGM battery between my bed and driver's seat. Also it's a real mattress complete with the bed frame.

I helped a friend pick a 2001 CE-trim with 210K over a top-package lower mileage 2007 Chrysler T&C with the 3.3 as a vehicle for both personal and band use. 3 years and 45K later with the exception of a fuel tank strap that rusted out, It has performed flawlessly and never left him or his band stranded anywhere in the northern border states and Midwest. I'd like to think for $2000, he did well choosing this over the T&C.

The Toyota Sienna certainly has come a long way since this first one replaced the Previa in late 1997.

And they're still driving around and running like new. So, you can still get one affordably and in great condition despite them being well over 20 years old.
