IN THE 80S THIS WAS A REALLY POPULAR EVENT IN PETERSENS 4 WHEEL AND OFF ROAD MAGAZINE. I AM GLAD TO SEE THAT IT IS STILL GOING STRONMG TODAY.

Nice video. Surprised the many obstacles and paths are roped off. Guess with the amount of Jeeples, the Jambo wanted to keep things moving along. What would happen if you told the 'spotter' you wanted to take 'your' line as to not follow their line? Ie. 11ish time (Buck Island), the green YJ and you are directed to climb through a crevice. I did the Rubicon 3 weeks before this Jambo and climbed the rock wall itself. Offcamber and there is a lean dip, but my 97 TJ on 35s geared and locked did it easily.

Thanks! Yes I think they are trying to keep the flow of traffic moving as quick as possible which even with their efforts sometimes slows or stops as it is. Just the nature of it with that many people, I know they’re doing the best they can. I’ve seen plenty of people go a different direction then intended by the spotters whether it’s them not being able to follow directions or whether they are more familiar with a different line - probably cases of both. Generally if you get through smooth it’s non-issue. Even though I go through several times a year on my own and take different lines, for jamboree I’ll follow their guidance to help keep things moving. I’ve heard stories of extreme cases where there were safety issues because of reckless driving and not following directions and those people were thrown out, but I can’t confirm. I’ve taken the rock wall to the left you’re talking about around minute 11, that’s a fun line. One time coming back at night heading the other direction I accidentally dropped down that line not realizing exactly where I was, that was less fun. Thanks for the comment and happy wheeling.
