Many of the ones I worked on were pretty fun. That crazed piece towards the end was from the very early days I think. I wouldn't work on that kinda piece anymore.
@mackie_pАй бұрын
You have some incredible pieces!!! Looks like nearly all carved by yourself!
@RoysRocksАй бұрын
Nah some of these were still as I bought them. I did work on that crazed one a long time ago... looks terrible haha

I'm running out of opal varieties on my wish list. Getting closer to my last 20 and most are just types of fossils I dont have yet.

Wonderful collection. Merry Xmas!.

It keeps me happy but always want to grow it more.

Nice going on the opal collection 👍😁 hope it keeps growing
@RoysRocksАй бұрын
It does keep growing but much slower these days. 1 due to funds and 2 its hard to find really different stuff to cross off my list.

A small snippet into my wild world... you should see the shed. Doing a stock take and reorganisation... it is everywhere.

I have quite a bit of dendritic and moss opal I'm looking forward to working on. And I still think your ring is beautiful
@RoysRocksАй бұрын
The dendritic opal carving I showed off in this video is still to date my favourite stone.

Some of my faves in this video. A rare video that even I watched myself a couple of times. I like voiceless ones with just music. Need to find a way of doing that more often.
@elishadoyle8191Ай бұрын
Wow so many different types. A never knew about the shell opal or pearl opal. One of the two. I probably said it wrong but the opal in that shell was nice
@RoysRocksАй бұрын
The Pearlopal is one of the best opal finds I have come across in all my years in the game.

🙀😻🫢💖 too stunned at the beauty!! Also a great video to show off the different types, I'm quite new to the different types so it was a big help!!
@RoysRocksАй бұрын
I was hoping it would result in a good reference video. Its why I tried to show a few rough pieces to help people spot the telltale signs of different fields.
@paigey1995-Ай бұрын
@RoysRocks your were right! It's definitely a good reference video! I honestly learnt some new names and were they come from (and really want them now 😹)
@bbisyy4uАй бұрын
That’s quite an assortment. Have to say my favorite was the boulder opal and the belamite. The others were nice too but boulder is at the top of my list.
@RoysRocksАй бұрын
The dendritic opal is my fave but that belemnite is a special one since I use it in my youtube banner

Great collection! Was fun seeing your Utah candy opal. I have a few KGs of opal from Utah on the way. Variety of different opal types. Some of the types should be candy, lace, and bubble. Might be others. The mine owners are really great. Agreed to make me a sampler pack. :)
@RoysRocksАй бұрын
I just have that one MASSIVE piece. Hard to fit on the macro lens. I really need to slab it up. I need to get myself some of those variety packs. It would have been the dream as a beginner.

Is that first treated Andamooka matrix opal the final version, or can it be treated again to bring out the colour more?
@RoysRocksАй бұрын
Treated again for sure. It looks like it was treated then cleaned up but should be treated again.
@nancycurtis7315Ай бұрын
Great!!! Thanks Roy. I really needed this video. Some of the texta had rubbed off bags. I couldn't work out a couple of them. Now, got it! The bi valve fossil is still ongoing! Got a gem torch with 6 different wavelengths. Fossil is clean inside. All the way! Colour! I think would cut a cracker! Can't do it. It's such a good fossil. So detailed. It would just be another opal if cut. I suspect that you knew what my choice would be. 😂. Fossil n I roughly same age. We belong together! LOL Have a wonderful day. 😊. P.S. Keep this 40 degree day that's coming, over there please.....take care mate. Hoping all are safe and well during this festive season.
@RoysRocksАй бұрын
Haha I think I recorded a pretty detailed video on your parcel so that could also help you identify each one. Sounds like good studying to mix them all up and try to identify them again.
@nancycurtis7315Ай бұрын
@RoysRocks Roy. You are a gifted teacher, too. You ,with every video, you explain each step. Whether a novice or not, you make it interesting! That is a gift. Not many have heart and total love of materials. As you explore, you share. There is no greed in you. Haven't changed in 30 years! I still want a belemnite. I'd cheerfully pick fossils at Naracoorte! That this beautiful shiny mineral was once alive! Coober Pedy is the bucket list. Might be another year, but I have to! Every day,hand is getting used to stuff. I was in fibreglass last time I saw you. Wrist set crooked. Free-form on a chunk is is going okay. Tried to cut Yowah nut. Nothing in it, but I looked like I'd been hit in the head with orange paint! LOL.
@scottishwifie14Ай бұрын
We would need to crowd fund and get Roy a pineapple opal for his collection😊

Haha I can afford a small fragment so I'll pick one up after I get the new burs manufactured.

How come you didn't use the really nice Welo I sent ya that you carved? You sell it or something lol?
@RoysRocksАй бұрын
I did include the big water opal one (should have removed the air bubble first). I mainly wanted to show off rough to help people identify material they get sold.
