I was born in 1953. I so much appreciate the effort to which you went to put this fabulous video together. I can see my Dad and I walking down the streets of my hometown to pay all the bills, go to the post office and the library. He loved cars and a special treat was when he took me looking at used cars. Such warm, wonderful, fabulous memories. Thanks again for triggering so much fabulousness in my mind’s eye.

This is all .... heart-breaking beautiful ...and sooo nostalgic for me. This WAS my life too, I graduated from high school ... in 1957 .... and worked at Shell, Tan-Kar service stations. Grocery store .. (not a chain) ... and had all these memories ... these scenes are still embedded forever in my memory. That world had it's nightmares too ... but nothing like the insanity gone not recognized in our society today ... If it was insane ... it was condemned, it was punished when appropriate ... etc. etc. I left all this peaceful world and entered military (Navy) service .... then college ... and that world, the world in these photos ... was gone ... forever.

I was born in 1966 but I always gravitate to the post war era - though I know it wasn't always perfect, there is some comfort and serenity with the simplicity from that place in that time.

I look at these photos and wonder just how much progress we have made? The people dressed better and were infinitely more courteous and on the streets face to face. Shopping, talking, visiting and just plain living. If only we could reset. I'm not saying it was perfect by any means, just a simpler time, even tho we thought at the time everything was moving too fast. Lordy if we only knew how lucky we were to have grown up in that time. I'm 78 and thru the looking glass. . . . . .

I remember when there was a payphone on almost every intersection in Manhattan. I soon learned that if one wanted to use one, it was best to not look at or think about the phone while you approached it. This definitely seemed to me to improve that odds that I could get to it before someone else decided to use it before I could get there.

At 9:51 there are a 1960 or 1961 Ford Falcon and what looks to be a 1961 Mercury. At 12:26, from left to right: 1960 Oldsmobile, 1963 Rambler Classic, 1963 Chevrolet and a 1960 - 1963 Ford Falcon wagon. At 14:28 there are what looks to be a 1962 Oldsmobile 88 and a 1960 Chevrolet Bel Air. Thinking about hiring a proofreader? ;)

This was a different world . So sad this world will never come again we have lost moral value. We might have more things but has lost so much as a society now this culture now is so violent no foundation and no respect and loyalty when a culture loses that they will kill you if you look hard at them life has no value and one thing about this world people respecting each other you didn't have to worry about being shot down in a bowling alley of Supermarket of the movie what happened to the people and what happened to America.

We have lost everything that was affordable. Now Ram pick up trucks go for $105,000 and anyone making less than $100k is barely surviving. Politicians and corporate greed wrecked this country. Endless wars, endless and wreckless spending, and open borders are wiping out the country. There is no going back to anything like the 50s. It’s all be ruined. It’s why I’m depressed and sad like 50 to 60% of Americans. Everyone has isolated. Now people are living in cars or vans or homeless. It’s a pathetic mess we live in today.

Life was much more simple and predictable than life is now and hardly anything ever changed we left our doors and windows unlocked all the time even when we went out of town no murders rapes muggins except in New York and LA all the BS you see in the Movies was extreamly rare People never needed to carry guns because they never got attacked there was discrimanation but if you didn't throw it in somebodys face you could live with it much better than now all of this is gone for ever

I was born in 1950, but for various reasons, would never want to go back to that dreary and boring time. My parents had terrible money problems, and my mother, college educated and having formerly worked for the United Nations, did NOT like being a housewife. The 60s were the best time for me!

A fan of your channel. However, the narration on this one seemed askew from visual content; talk of neon lit fast foods on Hway, while urban churches are being shown, Small price for otherwise priceless visual delights. There's tri-tone 56/57 Ford, B&W with Orange roof...to die for, and a black & red Merc(?)....the head spins. THANKS!!!!!! Former musician now in my 70s with related health problems, but living great memories through these,

These times after the war when the US was doing well was partly due to the effects of what World War II did to other countries. We were sitting pretty while England had rationing until 1953, most of the western European countries were able to clean up their war damage by the end of the 1950s. I remember when guys from the military in the 1970s brought back cheap albums from Japan with thin covers wrapped in plastic. The Americans were already copying what Japan was doing in the 1970s

Mass market color film was available as early as 1935 - while I appreciate the b/w to color transition we are getting interpretations - was that pink car really pink - not likely - were a third of the cars on the road purple - heheh - if actual color photos aren't available then an HD process for b/w would be much more useful

I grew up in the 1950s. It sucked. The conformity, the keeping up with the Joneses, the blatant hypocrisy, the virulent racism, the cold war. Duck & Cover. The sole saving grace was Rock 'n' Roll and R&B Top 40 Radio. The cars were ugly.

There was a Bubble. If you were white in the US (and some other countries) after WW2, you pretty much had the best of everything. This bubble has now burst, and reality is starting to bite. This video shows the bubble, and to look upon it with nostalgia feels good, but denies reality. We ought to study history, quit whining, and figure out the next steps.
