Julie, thanks for showing us the bad days, too. I have many bad pouring days where nothing seems to go how I plan it. I think many us feel like we should be cranking out masterpieces, daily, with all the practice we get in, when, in reality, there are days like this. You inspire me

Isn't it funny how we think something is a failure when others see it as beautiful? Your "mistakes" to me were gorgeous! And most likely there were other viewers who wanted to say at different points in the video, "No, leave it, it's amazing!" Of course, artists have a vision in their minds of what we expect something to look like and we experience disappointment when something happens that we didn't expect, but wouldn't it be nice to be less hard on ourselves! I love your work. You inspire me and I learn so much from you. Thank you, lovely lady :)

@TallDiana5 жыл бұрын
Lord Baccus What are you adding to your paint? The best thing to use, which helped me so much, was OGX hair serum, (just one drop in any size cup or bottle) which I bought on Amazon. It works way better than silicone for me. Also, I learned that pouring paint, which has been stirred or shaken very little, makes bigger cells, and shaking more or squeezing out of bottles makes fewer, smaller cells. My work went from okay to much better after I learned this and I’m not scraping paint off often or getting so-so work I’m not proud of most of the time. Some people use glue in their paint, but I use about 50 or 60% Floeteol and as much water as I need to get the consistency I want. Your paint should generally drizzle off the stirring stick and disappear into the paint cup without leaving a mound, maybe a little thinner for Dutch pours. Some people use nothing but water in their paint! Putting more water in your underlayer is a fun experiment to try for more cells from there. The weight and composition of your paint mix are key in a more scientific way than I can describe! Some paint floats more and some, especially black, tends to sink. You will find the right consistency to get the results you’re after with if you keep playing with it. I just basecoat my canvas, then use my fingers to massage some extra water into the center until it’s wetter there, leaving the edges alone. I like to try different things, just to see what happens! By watching many, many videos on KZbin, you can learn a lot. I spent many weeks working on TECHNIQUES rather than trying for great results. With experimentation and experience, you’ll learn a lot! You can make swatches of techniques on whatever you have. You don’t have to make a whole project. Combine colors and see what pops up! Have fun!

I know how it feels. I spend a lot on the materials and sometimes wonder how much longer I will be able to continue. A lot of the stuff comes from the US where it costs 5 and sometimes 10 times less than what it costs us here in Australia. I hear one can buy in bulk at places such as Michael's or Wallmart. Amazon Australia has the monopoly here now on art supplies and they charge an arm and a leg. Certain products are not available at all, despite Amazon in the US selling it. There are 1 or 2 small art supplies, who sell limited variety and the quality is not as good. It is almost as expensive as Amazon Au. Lack of competition allows them to charge what the want. It helps when you get some free stuff from promotions, sell some of get financial support from fans and youtube. When you are retired and get nothing like in my case, it makes it very hard. One must really love what they do to keep it up long term.
@Calmom55 жыл бұрын
Would it not be cost effective to have someone in the U.S purchase products here and ship them to there? This might be a silly question but I was just wondering. I don't know about you but I like how it turned out before you started adding more paints. The irregularities make it unique and one of a kind, and rather beautiful. It reminds me of space. How gaseous clouds and nebula can be so lovely, so irregular, beautiful it their own way. When you added the gold you ruined it... :( This is the unfortunate thing about us artists. When we think what we have created looks like crap, it's perfect...then we over do it and ruined it...
