I have two questions please If the machine has sccm agent configured then check and install updates will be done from sccm server or Microsoft update source ? For azure arc cost 5 $ will be accounted if i did check and install updates once ?

Hi, about your questions. SCCM: update manager relies (if configured) to an internal update repository. In my point of view, why should I use SCCM to update my server (expect third party tools) when I can use Update Manager with a public repo. but booth scenarios are okay. learn.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/update-manager/support-matrix?tabs=azurevm%2Cazurevm-os#third-party-updates Azure ARC: You‘ll pay 5$/server when you onboard azure arc resources experts VMs from Azure StackHCI. It’s anpassen as you go model, you’ll pay per hour (0,16$) learn.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/update-manager/update-manager-faq#how-is-azure-update-manager-price-calculated-for-arc-enabled-servers Hope this helps.

Hi, how does it relates to Azure automanage when it comes to update management ? Do they have overlaps or do they augment to each other?
@hanneslagler Жыл бұрын
Hi, the answer is straightforward. Azure Auto Manage relies to Azure Automation Update Management. This service requires the "old" Microsoft Monitoring Agent (MMA) which will retired in August 2024. Please migrate to the new Azure Update Manager and don't configure the onboarding over Automanage. I hope the new service will be included in Automanage soon. The official article can be found here: learn.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/automation/update-management/overview

Hi. Is it possible to set up a patching schedule for Linux servers using public YUM or APT package repositories, patching the Dev server in week 1 and the Prod server in week 3, while ensuring they both have the same level of updates using an update manager? Thanks
@hanneslagler Жыл бұрын
Hi, to group your environment into DEV and Pro, use grouping. I recommend using dynamic grouping based on tags for example: learn.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/automation/update-management/configure-groups I’m not really familiar with Linux, but I know you can place the VMs into groups and update all VMs if it’s supported. Here is the support matrix. learn.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/update-center/support-matrix?tabs=azurevm%2Cazurevm-os I hope it helps
