You are such an asset for the camping community, what a wonderful review for all to learn from and use as a reference for their own trips, including us when we get to explore FNQ. Steve and I need to budget more and become like John with figures if we are to seriously plan to do this in our retirement. Your channel is always informative and creative, so good on you Sharyn - I am happy to give you a shout out every time. Cheers Marg

Oh gosh, what a compliment, especially from you who I respect so much. Hold onto your hat when we camp together - John is all about preparing for our retirement. Just cooking dinner and then I'll be watching your new video. Cheers Sharyn

@@sharyns.shenanigans Thank you - the respect is mutual. I wish KZbin would be fair with showcasing more smaller channels to help the camping community find us, as I believe there are many out there with genuinely interesting content. As for hold onto your hat when we camp together, I hope you are prepared to experience one of my signature frozen Margies. Cheers Marg

Good info Sharyn, how far in advance did you need to book caravan park sites ?

Hi Mark, We booked Punsand and Weipa six months before leaving. Punsand actually closes over the off season (for admin as well as operating) and as soon as they reopened in January we booked via email. Other people were getting bookings on the fly, but if you want the same campsite for a few days in a row (we did four) then you need to get in early. Some people we met had to wait at Loyalty for a few days before they could get in, another couple had to move sites each night and it was a juggling act. We were very late in the season visiting Undarra and Cobbold but we did take advice of other travellers and pre-book when we were at Weipa (I think it was a fortnight previous). Even then we had to juggle between the two sites and take what Cobbold could offer us. We have been told Undarra and Cobbold can have cancellation waiting lists in the prime of the season they are so popular. In the end there are always alternatives, it's just Punsand is the closest to the tip, has the swimming pool and the best pizzas around. That's why it's so popular. Hope this helps and you enjoy your trip up there. Cheers Sharyn
