After 3 weeks in my remote Norwegian cabin, I headed to the cities of Oslo and Bergen for 48 hours in their famous Christmas markets (Jul i Vinterland).
My day in Oslo began at the royal palace with a walk down Karl Johan's gate towards the Jul i Vinterland festivities, where I was greeted by an impressive Christmas tree in the main square opposite the Grand Hotel.
As wonderful as it was to admire the lights against the dimming afternoon sun, there was no getting away from the cold, with temperatures approaching -15 degrees celsius.
Determined to keep moving, I headed straight into the market in search of some mulled wine. In the main bar, I was greeted by a talking moose - and that was before I had anything to drink!
As I enjoyed my hot drink by the fire I was able to warm up and take in more of the spectacle alongside the market's many food stalls.
After a good night's sleep in Oslo's perfectly situated K-7 hostel, I hopped on a 30 minute Norwegian Airlines flight to Bergen for round two of the festivities.
Much to my relief, the temperature had thawed a little which made it easier to enjoy the market's many delights. I was struck by how pretty the town is, and the 'Julemarked' Christmas market certainly had its own charm.
Amongst the many artisanal foods and craft goods, I had opportunity to try some great beers in the heated hall which was a great way to round off my 48 hours in Oslo & Bergen's Christmas Markets.

P.S. Given my former professional background as an investment manager, personal finance is something that I strongly believe in.
I'll be working on a side project in the coming months to help educate people around how investments work, sharing some of the tips and tricks that I used in the City before I embarked on my adventures.
In the meantime, you can see which stocks I'm invested in, and how well (or badly) I'm doing, via the link below:
💹 My stock portfolio (real-time): etoro.tw/3QJ6bcF
Although I've been a client of eToro for a number of years, and would remain so regardless of any affiliate terms, I do have an agreement with them which pays me a fee if you happen to open an account via the link (it costs you nothing extra and is very welcome towards my travels for a something that I'm using anyway).
Whether or not you have any interest in this stuff is up to you - and I wont ever promote it directly in my content. But if you do want to learn more, then you can see what I'm doing in real-time there, and it might perhaps inspire you to take control of your financial future.
(As its the serious world of finance, I'm also required to share this riveting disclaimer: eToro is a multi-asset investment platform. The value of your investments may go up or down. Your capital is at risk. Other fees apply.)
