I graduated high school in 86 and I remember watching an interview with him where he was asked what he'd like to be in life, what would satisfy him. I remember like it was yesterday he said he just wanted to be amused. Not happy, not rich, not in love. Amused. At the time I thought that was the worst thing I'd ever heard. I thought if I ever got that cynical you could just kill me. And now? I'd like to just remain amused. Thanks Julian.

Reminds me of an anonymous quote from the ancient Greeks that's become my personal motto. And to think his music teacher told Julian to not be stupid when he said he was going to be a rock star. Sister was at school with him, regularly used to visit when he was in the UK. Mom was given one of the gold / blue picture disc copies of Saint Julian. was #4 of 1000

I met God in a car, in a dream, in Ankerside And I was very unkind I said, "You locked us out of the forest And gave us a mind . I came upon you when I thought I'd lost you And I cried, 'My God, I thought I'd lost you! Lost you! Lost you!'" He said, "My mind is overflowing With tales to tell I've been looking around this world I created It's going so well!" I looked, I stared, I said, "I think I've lost you!" Cried out, "My God, I think I've lost you! Lost you! Lost you!" I stared into your face, the waves deep and strong Your fall from grace -- a god so far gone Remind me not to pray to you Then my flailing arms smacked your face Why shouldn't I kill you? I thought of all the bodies, the religious wars And all of the millions dying for a nobody cause Sitting in an 8-foot by 8-foot cell, I cried "You know this treatment isn't human!" Up to my waist in the slime and the sweat of days I hope that I am not forgotten I came upon you when I thought I'd lost you And I cried, "My God, I know I've lost you! Lost you! Lost you! Know I've lost you Lost you. Lost you."
