Old photos are like some kind of wonderful alchemy, as upon their invention, for the first time in history, the past can be looked at - and in accurate detail - if of only one second in time. Prior to that, only the wealthy who commissioned paintings had any way of looking back at people and places. How many times have we discovered an old family photo, only to exclaim, "I had forgotten all about THAT!" Love it - from a time when the ties were short and the pants were HIGH! LOL

Same year as me, I live in Edmonton where he started. Max Ward was actually ON the plane like he often was, was my first flight as well. I flew to Hawaii for New Years week 1978/9, with my birthday in there too. Had a glider flight on the north shore and a day fight to Kuai. We rented a car and drove up the old volcano. Dumb friend had to go for a swim and lost the key. LOL. That was enough for me, never went back. Damn cold and cloudy all week.

@@GordoGambler Hi, Thanks for sharing your vacation experience, sounds like you had an interesting time, id luv to have seen Hawaii back then as loved watching Hawaii 5-0, New York must have been fun too. I dont travel much now but enjoy watching travel programs especially older ones, for sure Wardair seemed super back then and great service, I still remember that flight as if it was yesterday. Best wishes.

I remember them old cars. I was under five years old the last half of the 1950s. Them cars didn't have seat belts all they had was a strap hanging ln between the front door and the back door. I remember I would hang on for dear life as I was tossed about lol.

While I liked seeing the old photos of Canada, even if it was overly churchy. Your comment seem out of place and insultingly inappropriate.

Hi...that is the vantage point looking down from the national parks head office (kind of a castle) down onto the main street of Banff, Alberta. We were there last year standing on that spot. The view is just as incredible as this photo.

@@travisazzopardi8024 It's called a 210 handyman wagon. Nomads had chrome strips on the tailgate, sloped B pillar and had loaded options. Too expensive and 2 door so they didn't sell many. LOL.

Next life, I want to grow up in 1950s Canada, & I want to be a 1980s wrestling legend in AWA & WWF. Canada in the 50s is so chill & laid back. Non-interventionalist, with only one exception. DONT. FK. WITH ENGLAND.

I think many of the photos originated with the same family. Kamsack Saskatchewan and Grand Forks both have Doukhobor communities and and so does Castlegar. Ironically, despite your complaint, I didn't actually see Bibles in over abundance in any of the photos. Just groups of people peacefully gathering and enjoying one another's company. Horrors!
