I've been using ChatGPT and various other chatbots to ask questions about my Japanese. I've been showing them sentences that I've constructed and asking if they sound natural or can be improved. It's been quite helpful! However, I'm currently signing up to have some real lessons because I think the presence of a real person will help learning. I think speaking with a person (preferably in-person or with video) surely lights up all kinds of emotional/affective areas of the brain that aid in memory formation.

And it's really helpful when a human doesn't understand what you're saying because that tells you that you were saying it in a weird way and maybe the teacher can help you find a more natural way.

Hi, as a native American speaker of English, I just wanted to say it took time for me to get used to several dialects of British English, South African and Australian. I still struggle with Scottish and other local varieties in the UK. I mention this because it must be difficult for foreign students to deal with such a wide range of accents.

I tried AI chat for Japanese language practice (GPT-3 on Memrise), and it was quite awful, haha. Even I'm not that good at Japanese and I could tell all the sentences were really unnatural and phrased in a way no Japanese person would ever speak. This ChatGPT demo looks interesting and I like the pronunciation so I will give it a try! But do Japanese people really greet each other with just 「どうですか?」 3:22 If so, it's the first time I've heard it. 😅 Ordinarily, I'd say any practice is better than no practice but if AI is constantly using awkward sentences, then all it will do is make you develop bad habits.

It would be great though if you didn't used that much English words though that's just my feedback. Love this podcast otherwise !

Can someone please link me to this version of ChatGPT? I'm on Android, and there are several versions to download. The one I have, I need to convert to text then press enter. It's not the one Reira-san is using
