Pearl pour
For this pearl pour, I used 2 parts Floetrol to 1 part Liquitex Basics paints with a splash of water. I mixed Decoart Supreme Sheen 24k gold 1 to 1 with floetrol to get the pearl effects.

Hi just wanted to say some things about my experience so far with painting. You know the cardboard piece that comes with a new canavas ( that says the size of it) I saved it ..cut it and now use it to catch paint in the corners. If you have a KFC in your area...get some popcorn chicken...the container it comes in has a lid with holes in it already...I will use the other part of it to mix my paint and then pour it into the lid with the holes in it. See how it will work. Want to mix the colors gold, sliver, purple, yellow red, blue,...then ring pour into the lid with the holes. Hopefully it wil be beautiful. You have inspired me to use other things to paint with. Thank you.

If your looking for the gold to pop thru you need to pour the gold in one single puddle, not a donut shape. The paint poured in the donut hole stretches out to the sides. Pour your colors directly on top of gold puddle to maintain the gold underneath. Also, slightly less colored paint. The gold is heavier paint so only the stretched edges will pop through.

Does this help to give more pearls too? I'm not getting any. Did she put silicone in the gold? I made my gold thicker and the other paints thinner. Thank you!

Chelle 7 In my experience, I always mix my paints the same consistency with the same amount of water and small amount of white glue for all colors, and I never use silicone. I am all about simplicity. The gold is a “heavier” paint to begin with .... heavier does not mean thicker! I also never torch till the end after all tilting and stretching is complete. And I only torch briefly as overheating the paint causes it to thicken and cells can not pop thru.

When you pour the gold, instead of pouring it into a circle, pour it right in the middle then do the ring pour on top. I did it last night and it works perfectly! It still pushes the gold out into a ring and leaves the center as the ring pour but you don’t lose any gold off the edges and you don’t get any intestines. I used the same paint ratios you do. I forgot to add that after I poured the gold puddle in the middle, I tilted the canvas around in a circle to spread the gold paint out so it formed a thinner but larger circle. Not too big. Maybe another inch or two around. Then I did the ring pour on top. I didn’t add any gold to my ring pour cup nor did I pre-cover my canvas with a background color.

Love the contrast with light n dark and your circular lines are awesome. But look at the gold this way.... they are pulled into the cyclone. And your gold flecks are revealing the depth of the cyclone. It’s my story and I’m sticking to it!😍

Very Nice I think less paint is a good idea it is lovely like the colors. Getting ready to try a table top with resin finish on an old sm round one maybe turn into something beautiful. It's a kookaburra. They eat meat. It's a member of the kingfisher family but lives in the bush here in Australia

Here's a solution, keep the thicker gold and thinner paints in ring pour, but instead of a ring of gold you pour in center of, make a puddle of gold and pour into Center of that.

SHANNON OSBORNE that’s pretty much what I thought of yesterday and I tried it last night and it works perfectly!!! I didn’t add any gold to my ring pour though. Just poured the whole puddle of it in the middle then did the ring pour on top. After tilting it left just the ring pour in the middle and all the gold was pushed out into a circle but barely any gold was lost over the edges. So instead of only having pearls on the far outside edges, they fill up a lot more of the canvas but don’t form the dreaded intestines. One thing I forgot to add and I’m not sure how much difference it makes, after I poured the gold in the center, I tilted the canvas around in a circle a few times to spread out the gold paint so it formed a larger circle, then did the ring pour on top.

Well, I gave this a go with a small circle of gold but I'm guessing that I used way too much paint because I didn't get a single pearl. 😩 It's almost midnight here though, so I'll try again tomorrow. Wish me luck! This pour is gorgeous though - great rings and great pearls. 👍

I think you should try spreading the gold more so your other paint just flow over instead of pushing it. Just a thought. This one is gorgeous as it is!

I’m always excited when you have your great introduction because I know that means a little hello to the birds. Scruffs must be the best known bird in Australia! Duck droppings are pretty yucky aren’t they? Do you think Scruff is a wild bird or was in an avery? They pull out their feathers if they’re bored in a cage. It’s warm enough it Queensland to survive if he got out, unlike Tasmania. It’s 7 degrees Celsius today.
