Abusers are really good at manipulating a person to the point that their victim knows that being physically, verbally, and emotionally abused believe that when they are treated with love and affection later makes them write off the abuse. Thinking well they said they wouldn’t do it again, but their in a state of complacency and don’t leave. It happens all the time. A married man manipulated her from the moment they met. Saying all the right things, acting “charming” and being the person she is drawn to enough to have an affair with a married man

Do we need proof anyway? Shouldn't we rather care enough to investigate the claims ourselves. Of course, only if we can do it from a safe distance. People have been married for 30 years and feel they know their own spouses only to learn 30 yrs later that they never truly did. So such would be the dynamics here. So, as outsiders looking in, how can we ever really know? So if the person claiming abuse has been proven to be a credible person up until this point, we should want to take the time to learn the truth ourselves vs forming our own opinions just because it's the easier thing to do. There may be nothing we can do to convince someone to leave, but anything beats burying our heads in the sand, especially if lives are lost. Tragic! Let's not speculate, but take the time to care.

@@cougar2013 By that logic, shouldn't we blame the mother's mom and claim that the victim's grandmother probably should have done a better job raising the victim's mom? But wait...doesn't that mean the victim's great-grandmother is possibly the person who's really the root of the problem? Should we commission My Heritage or Ancestry to find out who's _really_ to blame? I'm not saying poor parenting doesn't often play a part in one's child making poor decisions. We all know it can and does. But I'm also saying that no matter how well we raise our kids, that's not always going to prevent them from making bad decisions. And further, we certainly can't know all the specifics of a family dynamic from watching a 40-minute mini-doc on KZbin. So when watching these true-crime shows, I'm generally wary of passing judgement on anyone other than the actual criminal who perpetrates the violent crime.
