Andy, an avid hunter from Austria, embarked on an incredible journey halfway around the world to Melbourne, Australia. With only 48 hours of free time before heading back home for Christmas with his family, he was determined to make the most of his limited window for a hunt.
Recognising the need for a skilled guide to maximise his chances of success, Andy enlisted the services of a reputable outfitter, who provided him with expert guidance and local knowledge. With a combination of luck and the expertise of his guide, Andy set out on a thrilling adventure in pursuit of his first sambar deer.
The Victorian high country, known for its rugged terrain and abundant wildlife, served as the backdrop for Andy's hunt. Despite the time constraints, Andy's determination and the guidance of his experienced guide proved invaluable.
After a morning of tracking & carefully stalking his prey, Andy's patience and skill paid off. He had the privilege of taking a magnificent sambar stag, a trophy that would serve as a lasting reminder of his incredible hunting adventure in Australia.
The successful harvest and the acquisition of a world-class trophy sambar stag were not only a testament to Andy's passion for hunting but also a reflection of the beauty and allure of the Australian wilderness.
With limited time and a long journey ahead, Andy headed back home to Austria, carrying with him the memories of an unforgettable hunting experience and a prized trophy. The sambar stag would not only serve as a symbol of his achievement but also as a connection to the vast and diverse hunting opportunities that exist around the world.
Andy's story serves as an inspiration to hunters everywhere, showcasing the determination and dedication required to pursue one's passion, even in the face of time constraints and logistical challenges. It highlights the transformative power of hunting and the lifelong memories that can be created through immersive and fulfilling experiences in the great outdoors.

Bolt-Action Productions yep that’s how it tends to go with the big boys. I thought I had the drop on him 3 months earlier. We seen him with two hinds feed in a gully from 400m. I got a shot video and started our stalk in, we got in to 200m but as we set up for a shot the wind swirled around and they were out of there. It’s nice when luck goes your way.

Hi Paul, one of the best sambar videos I’ve seen! Congratulations to you and the hunter on a great animal! Great display of what hunting is about and respect to the animal taking all the meat. 82 meters - great stalking and to take such quality footage as you did is a credit to you! How’s the chances of a drop of blood falling on that scull! And a fish to boot. Unreal. Thanks

Excellent Vid Paul I'm guessing that was one happy hunter and I wouldn't think there would be many good Sambar stag heads in Austria but what a memory for him

Rod George Thanks Rod. With a population of over 2 million sambar deer in Australia there is plenty of good stag out there they are just very good at not getting shot.

Great video Paul. Had to laugh at the difference in attitudes to hunting in Austria at a kindergarten of all places. Imagine doing that here at a kindergarten!!!! It would be on the news and the kids would be in safe places and getting trauma treatment. Lol
