We did a Vitamix Ascent A2300 review. This is a blender that costs $499 USD. Is it worth that much? You be the judge. We put it through a few tests and while we may not be pro blenders ourselves, you may not be either. Check it out!

Hi there. Top tips are to blend smoothies longer and much faster, plus the tamper sick is to be used through the small top hole at the same time as blending.

Great advice! I've had my vitamix 7 years and my man you weren't doing the smoothies correctly. More liquid less fruit, use the tamper as that's not a bad thing. Just pour the extra liquid in while it running through the hole on top. Lastly, turn it up full speed or use the smoothie setting. The vitamix is a tank and can take every bit of what you give it. Hopefully, you didn't give up because it takes about a couple of weeks to get it down.

Hi there, I appreciate your review of the Vitamix and the issues of the cookbooks not having enough information. I have used many a blender of various sorts: Kitchen Aid (the Diamond Series), Oster beehive and Oster standard, Hamilton Beach and Waring. And frankly it took a learning curve with Vitamix, even with the Ascent with buttons. What I learned was you need to use the tamper from the start and starting your blending at 1, moving quickly up to 10. You really have to have enough water to help the friction and I would dribble it in like you would oil when making Mayonaise. It can work! When I made my first Applesauce using apples, lemon juice, cinnamon, nothing was mentioned about enough water. The apples were "chunky" but didn't get chopped enough. When I added extra water, it smoothed everything out with using the tamper at the same time. Just realize just like applesauce smoothies take enough liquid to make a thick but not frozen smoothie~My best to you!

It is very clear, the tamper is used to move food items into the blades until they are reduced enough to flow. You are a newbie. My personal view is that tamper and low speed will break up icy components so the flow can begin, then increase the speed to pulverize and emulsify. This is painful to watch.

roasting the vegetables or pan roasting will give you the flavor you want, rather than just warming up raw veggies, kind of the same thing goes with a slow cooker as well. You have to bring out the flavors either by stovetop roasting or in the oven. Cheers!

Are you going to update this video after you practice? I own a vitamix and have never had your frustrations. As many have commented you used the tamper wrong, and it seemed like you blended to slow. Go to 10 within 4 seconds of starting. I saw your blendtec video and was good but if you are comparing the two blenders this video is not fair to vitamix. Also you can get presets by down loading the vitamix blend app. One of the features is its smart tech and it's part of the price. Thanks for being honest with you test. My blender is the A3500. Perhaps it's more intuitive than the A2300.
@TheAverageKitchen

Thanks very much for the great comment. We are in no way attempting to be “unfair to the vitamix”. Our goal is always to provide an honest unbiased review. Unfortunately, I had no experience with either the blentech or Vitamix and shot this video as a rookie user. And again, unfortunately those were the results of the tests we conducted. I am not aware of an app being available for this model, but I could be wrong. Thanks again for watching and taking the time to provide feedback. Marc
@susannalamont6707
@susannalamont6707 2 жыл бұрын
The app is called Vitamix Perfect Blend. It encourages the use of the Perfect Blend Smart Scale but you don't need It. You use the Accent series or Venturist series Vitamix blenders using the Bluetooth feature on these blenders. The presets tell the blender the length of time and speed adjustments. You send the blender the preset then hit start. It adjusts and stops the blend while you watch or step away. It takes the guess work out of the picture until you're ready to experiment on your own. Now the tamper won't touch the blades so you just stick it right in through the removable little lid. The hand guard will stop it from reaching the blades. Keep it blending as you do it. Like I said I have the A3500. It comes with 5 presets on the front. Alot of people would tell me I wasted money because I could have bought your model and just used the app. Mine was $649 US dollars. Alot of people might be right but I like it anyway. Perhaps you can try the app and give your Vitamix a new try. Good Luck.......and No I don't work for Vitamix, I just watch a lot of KZbin trying to learn how to better use my equipment. That's how I found your channel. Again, good luck.

Simple fix: 1. Use the mixer on 10 most of the times... use other levels to just ramp up the speed to avoid splashing. 2. Use the tamper while blending.. it's designed precisely to not touch the blade when you push contents through the hole at the top 3. Run it for minimum a minute when you are making a drink.. ideally 2 minutes at full speed. This machine will crush stones for you.. so your smoothie fruit to liquid ratio doesn't matter...

Do not take fruit out of the freezer and leave it out overnight. All you need to do is add more water. I've used a Vitamix for smoothies for years, and I never add a bunch of ice to it. Put your frozen fruit in and add whatever non-frozen items. Then put in a small amount of water/fluid and turn on your Vitamix and see how it's going to blend. If it's too thick, add more fluid gradually until you get the desired consistency. It's simple and makes a perfect smoothie every time. I've had a Legacy Vitamix for many years, and these things are work horses. I've had pitchers where the blade went bad and froze up on me. It's a good idea to test the blade by turning it manually to see if it's turning freely.

Not trying to jump on ya here but there's genuinely no direction easily findable about this. Plenty of paid vitamix "influencers" here to tell you how great it is and to buy the top of the line model. (Getting promoted at the top of the search results) Not one of them being honest about how to run the device, when and how to use the tamper, where when and how to put liquid. Watching this guy go through it is revealing and of course a ton of vitamix stans get on his case about it. Shameful really.

For a smoothie, definitely don’t put ice in if the fruit is frozen. I always defrost my fruit for about 3 min on defrost in the microwave. The fruit should still be pretty cold (pretty close to frozen) but there is some give to it. I think that will give you a much better smoothie consistency. I use a nutribullet currently and I always get great smoothies from it. I’m confident the vitamix can do it to but I think the key to good smooth consistency is defrosting frozen fruit a little bit before blending. One of the main smoothies I like to make has the following ingredients. 1 cup mix berries 1 cup of greens (can be spinach, chard or kale). 1 cup of water 2-3 tbsp of hemp hearts 1-2 tbsp of chia seeds 1/2 - 1 cup of almond milk. (I usually end up closer to a cup).

VITAMIX is anything but reliable. After a while your highly likely run into the problem that your container does not get recognised. In my case right after purchase, basically right after unpacking, the container was not recognised. Vitamix sent me a new one but I should have already known that the design is flawed. Now, after 2.5 years, same issue, but no warranty! Meaning, the Vitamix is useless. Go for something more basic and reliable. The autodetect function is a big mess. I do not know how they could introduce such a fragile tech to the market.
