I live in South Africa where you would see a deer walking down our small town street, or hear a lion roar in the distance. Small wildlife and insects in the home and garden. To me it is inspirational. Being close to nature gives me peace. Enjoy it. You are blessed to be there.

I live with our fellow creatures. The insects. The mammals. The reptiles. The birds. All of them are in decline. So we do capture and release. A moth, a stink bug, lighting bugs, spiders, a bee, a bird. Once we had a bat! But we got her and let her go. As to the fox, deer they are VERY afraid of you. Austria declared their country free of rabies in 2008. Beautiful.

It's really hard getting back into crafting even when we're looking forward to it 🤷. Lol yes it's handy having things within reach at the swivel of a chair, easier to tidy too. Hmm yes, you might get a numb bum sitting so long 🙊. I am going through that same uncertainty about my abilities after so long away from crafting. Your bravery always helps me 😁. Cute drawings😍. Your poor lion looks cross eyed 🙈🙊. Repurposing is a great idea 💡. Woah that's a big grasshopper!! Such a difference using sprays through stencils on paper than on fabric. I usually dab with an almost dry sponge. You did loads! A great return to your craft table 👏👏👏. Tfs and have a great day 💖💖💖

We have screens on our windows. Several years ago in Sept we started getting stink bugs. They are trying to come in the house to hibernate for the winter. Ugly things that really stink! Fortunately with each passing year there’s less and less but they are still here. Ugh! So happy for you to have your own craft room and the ease of getting things you need. I have had my own craft room for years now and it’s wonderful. Loved your drawings from years ago and how you put them in parts of your journal. It’s always nice too to see more of the person then just hands. Enjoy all of your videos Barbara! TFS! ❤️

And you don’t want critters nibbling on your papers either. Can’t wait to see your next studio tour video. I felt the same way after I moved back into my studio. It felt so strange at first. I'm so happy for you, Barbara! Having a great crafting space and extra room is wonderful! I have a rolling chair, as well. My craft room is only 9 x 13, so for me, I have to be organized. I had purchased some of those cubical things in white, added fabric drawers and I love it. I mentioned white, because it is clean looking, and makes the room appear bigger, too. And I also, have a couple of those carts with like 10 plastic drawers in each. They are great storage for all kinds of items. I do have a white table with drop down leaves, in the center of my room. It holds my large guillotine cutter. So, I do have to get up from my desk, and move sometimes! Lol Oh, and while I was unloading groceries today, I thought...WOW the grasshoppers are everywhere this year... And I am NOT a bug fan! 😂 We also see centipedes...I hate fast moving critters! Haha. It's about time to spray the house again... Love your journal and seeing your older pieces being used in there. Take care! Hugs 💟 Suzy

I completely get the "chair on wheels" thing, it makes life so much easier when you can whizz round your craft space. Also, get yourself a bug catcher off Amazon, it has a really long handle so you don't have to get too close to the creepy crawly. ❤

LG

I love seeing how excited you are for your new craft room! I have always wanted a designated room for arts/crafts, although I am blessed to have 2 craft areas. One with my desk and a table and the main supplies I use, then a backroom with a work bench and all my extra supplies. I am still trying to find a good way organize, but as I work on that and find new ways to get organized I love the small things, like you talk about, not having to get up to get a paper cutter etc. Also, I love Lifebook, I have Tamara's print book and am doing Lifebook 2022 and I really enjoy it! Between you and Luise and Tamara you have all awakened my love to mixed media and junk Journaling. I really want to start doing art/craft videos on my KZbin channel, but I have yet to figure out a good area to setup for that type of content. (I had dipped my toes into youtube videos with unboxing and haul videos). Thank you for all you do and all that you share! 💟

PS: insects are a sign of a healthy garden!! I am NOT in love with most of them, either....but most are totally harmless ...Over here my garden is taken up by native birds and they are BOLD, come into my kitchen (I live in a house) looking for dog food as one of my small dogs has a bad habit of picking up a morsel and taking it somewhere else to eat, the he gets bored and leaves it ... the birds have figured this out!!

So happy for you in your new and bigger craft space, I craft in our lounge room, much to my husbands dismay 😂. I live in Australia and we get all sorts of wildlife here, I live in a small country town and we have had snakes of all types, a large goanna (lizard) in our back garden, not to mention all kinds of spiders 🕷. I love all the wildlife now, but it did take me a while to get use to them as I moved from the city out to a rural area 15years ago, so happy with the move, as I hope you will be with your move. 💕🇦🇺🦘

I’m so happy for you Barbara, finally getting your own craft room! Just be warned, it will never be done! When I plan on going into mine to straighten up, I get side tracked and start play with something I have found and end up with a bigger mess, 😅😂🤣. The thing is it’s my mess and I will get to it the next day. I live in north, Scottsdale Arizona in the Sonoran Desert and we found a scorpion inside yesterday! After 12 years plus of living here, I see this as its time to spray inside and out again! There is always some creepy crawly that comes to visit, uninvited no matter where one lives, I believe! Take care and enjoy your new place! ❤️🤗😘🥰

Oh, Barbara! You made me laugh thinking about all the bugs and other critters that live in the southern US. We have roaches (yuck), flies, mosquitoes and bees & wasps. We have a family of lizards (chameleons) that live on our patio and front porch. Tiny tree frogs thrive in abundance and cling to the glass on our back door. They come out at night and eat bugs drawn to our porch lights. I say they come for the free buffet. LOL. We have had cute brown bunnies but also coyotes sand even a red fox! Squirrels are everywhere. And we live in the city- not out in the rural area. So we have many animals and bugs in our yard. Turtles have even been known to live in our yard! I enjoyed your snack episode. Loved your quick recovery from your complete disaster. All’s well that ends well! 😉

Oh, Barbara! I sympathize with your critter problem. I actually would prefer a fox and a grasshopper. Our first few months in Texas we were in a rental that was horrible. Cockroaches (lots), spiders of all colors and sizes, and beetles. I was freaked out all the time. Now that we are in our house we have a professional bug guy come out once a month and spray around our house and in our walls to keep rodents out. We make sure everything is safe for pets and wildlife but will take out those creepy crawly things. BTW, LOVE your new pages. I think your craft room is serving your creative juices well!

I actually flinched when you poured the spray paint on the stencil! You forgot that paint used on stencils has to be very thin and almost dry. You fixed it well, though. Two years ago, I was doing a lot of pour painting and junk journaling. Then, I was diagnosed with breast cancer, and not only did I stop doing art, but I also even stopped watching you tube videos. I started watching videos again at the end of last year, but I still haven't made anything. So, I know how you feel trying to do art again. At least you actually did something -- I'm still just watching! (Cancer free, by the way!)

Just to help comfort you & your husband, you’ll be pleased to know that Austria has been free of rabies in the animal population for 14 years, so you can make friends with your fox, who was probably just checking out her new neighbours. Most animals only bite if humans try to attack them or try to get inappropriately close to them without establishing trust & a firm friendship. As an Australian, I empathise with your creature encounters & encourage you to take time to watch them, even if just a large grasshopper. We underestimate our fellow creatures’ intelligence & curiousity incredibly. “Austria was declared free of terrestrial rabies in 2008. The last time a fox was diagnosed with rabies was in 2004 and 2006. However, further investigations revealed that it was a vaccine virus picked up from young animals. Prior to this, an animal rabies outbreak occurred in Carinthia in 2002 due to an immigration of foxes from Slovenia. The circulation of the rabies virus in the Austrian dog population has been extinct since 1950. Bat rabies is an independent infectious disease and is not related to silvatic rabies. So far, it has not been observed in Austria, neither in bats nor in other animals as well as in humans.” From: Rabies - Ages (dot) at
