The 49ers NEED an elite center. The center position on the O-Line is like the Fred Warner position for the D-Line. Brock Purdy NEEDS an intelligent center who can consistently call the correct slides against defenses. Purdy NEEDS a quick, strong, tough, sure handed center who doesn't get pushed into lap every other play. Look at the Lions O-Line! Its elite. I'm jealous of the blue wall that forms around Jared Goff. He's so lucky to have an O-Line that consistently protects him and also opens up lanes for the run game. The O-Line is equally important as the D-Line. These two branches of the team are known as the trenches. Games and championships are won in the trenches! Upgrade the O-Line!!!

@@MrDre18 That is technically true if you have a well run organization. If you’re spending 2 to 3 years recruiting players at the top of the draft you should technically have a good team but that’s not always the case. John Lynch did draft Oline but not many were good. They drafted McGlinchey but John didn’t resign him. Puni last draft but the others who they have drafted have been awful Colton McKivitz needs to go. 49ers cannot give Purdy a big contract and not invest in the offensive line. Purdy shouldn’t be greedy and ask for 60 million and not make big plays. Kyle needs to trust Brock and make him run the offence. If Kyle doesn’t trust Brock as quarterback he needs to go. 49ers have big decisions and if they don’t make some changes they will be in big trouble and be in a big rebuild for the next couple of years. It’s been disappointing.

@drogonr93185 күн бұрын
Completely agree with Sherm here. 49ers been bullied in the trenches all season. It's blown up what they've been trying to do so often on both sides of the ball. I'm still annoyed that they drafted two WRs last season, and ignored the trenches. They take one shot on a lineman in Puni, and he turns out to be their best pick of the draft. I'd take Purdy over Goff any day of the week, but look at how immobile and wilt-under-pressure Goff looks with that blue wall protecting him and blowing open holes for their running game. So many of these Purdy haters should think about what players like Goff or Darnold or Stafford would look like in Purdy's position - it would be ugly. The 49ers defensive line no longer seems elite and dominant. Is Bosa still even top 10? He seems to have fallen off, and does not seem as disruptive as earlier in his career. The Hargrave injury was a pretty big blow to the interior D line. I hope they can find some young elite talent to plug in here, like the Seahawks and Rams did in the last draft.

I do think Puni has shown some promise and he has the potential to be the next anchor for this OL as they have to rebuild (especially with Big Trent in his final season or two depending on his own personal decisions on his future and retirement). But yeah, the other linemen we’ve drafted in the past couple years have been very mediocre and have underperformed to a point of not being good enough to be retained at their positions. So yeah we gotta be building around Puni through the draft if we want to be a team that has any chance of competing for the next few years. Purdy has been trying to get by with this subpar situation, but he’s not going to be productive without addressing the issues in his protection going forward

@thatguy24084 күн бұрын
Absolutely! That is the biggest problem. Receivers not getting separation is not good but Kyle’s offense schemes receivers open. The problem here is Kyle’s plays take 3 seconds to develop and the line (that he built) can only give his QB 2.5 seconds. He and lynch really need to own this. Kyle never learned that every draft you need to pick an O Lineman by the 4th round. Find it hard to believe that he doesn’t even know that games are won and lost at the line. Every draft should be: 1st pick - Best player available unless it’s a position in which we are solid then look for a trade. 2nd pick - same as above 3rd pick - best OL/DL available unless another positions player is too highly rated to turn down. 4th pick - best OL/DL available. Then proceed as you see fit. But no draft should have more than 2 picks at one position. There are exceptions to these general rules. But you get the idea.

You are right on target as usual Richard, that is what I like about your show. You tell it like it is. Definitely need to beef up the O-line and D-line. Need at least two starters from either the draft or free agency. The Rams ran away from Bosa and were pushing back the D-line and linebacker. Winters, Campbell were not Greenlaw. Warner and Greenlaw were Thunder and Lighting or Shake and Bake. Going into the draft though, the Niners need to draft Brock Bowers. I don't mean the actual Brock Bowers, but the guy that falls out of the top ten like Bowers did last draft who fell to 13th at the Raiders. The Niners need to be ready to draft that guy who falls out of their top ten on the Niner board. Players like DE Williams, DE Graham, WR McMillian or LB Carter depending on how the Niners rank them. They still will be able to get O-linemen in 2nd, 3rd round. The needs as I see it 2 O-line, edge, DT, CB, LB. CB and LB are future replacements/backups. The Niners have six picks in the first four rounds to cover these spots. Then they have four in the last 6-7 rounds to fill in. Bring in another kicker to challenge Moody whose head is really messed up. If Mordecai is not progressing, draft a young QB. If Cowings is not progressing, then a speedy wide receiver, and someone that can return punts.

The Niners have a lot of salary cap room they’re carrying over from this year. A high APY doesn’t mean it hits your cap that amount every year. Aiyuk is making 30 million this year; his cap hit is $5.7 million this year, 11 next year, and 16 million the year after. Jalen Hurts is at 51 million a year and he had a cap hit last year when he did the contract of 6 million, it’s 13 this year and 21 next year. If the guaranteed money runs out at the same time the cap hits become unsustainable, they just restructure the deal, give the player a ton of cash in signing bonus and guarantees in that first year of the restructure, and just push the big cap hits back a few more years.

But the problem is BIGGER Than that now . 1 the 49ers now needs to address their DEFENSIVE COORDINATOR position. This DEFENSE is not only not taking the football away anymore, but they are getting GASHED by the run, missing tackles, giving up way too many big plays. The 97 yard TD to Sam Darnold and Justin Jefferson, a PRELUDE to what the season would be like😢. Along with PENALTIES on both sides of the ball. The offense is STAGNANT and PREDICTABLE. If the defense is no longer taking away the ball from other teams. Ours is giving it away, like a volunteer at the SAMS CLUB. Special teams is like a Foreign exchange student, trying to find their way in a foreign country and missing home. Giving up big play after big play and missing kicks left and right. No I mean LITERALLY LEFT and RIGHT!😮😮 This team has a lot of issues and maybe a long summer and some rest can get them back on track. But I DOUBT IT. As long as you have a coach that uses the MEDIA to SHAME and POLARIZE his players in public. The Practice short SCANDAL was a joke, distracting and did more harm than good. That should have been handled in house and if the media happened to catch it down played in public and dealt with in private, a teachable moment. People are talking about PRACTICE SHORTS. When PENALTIES, TURNOVERS, MISSED FIELD GOALS and BLOWN LEADS should be looked at a little more CLOSELY.🧐 KC and Andy Reid has to deal with INJURIES, LONG SEASONS, Super Bowl wins and TAYLOR SWIFT. However, they just keep on WINNING!!!🤫🤢🤮 Kansas City theme song is! What about Purdy's arm strength? if you play man coverage he can't get the ball into tight windows.

If you watch the tape, he is generally very accurate with a lot of tight window throws. His receivers have the worst separation grade in the NFL so they’re not beating man, and for some reason, the Niners stopped throwing screens or doing play action and rely on him making medium to deep passes in the drop back game behind a shaky OL, and he still is sniffing the top 10 in QBR, ahead of Darnold, Herbert, Tua, Baker, and Russell Wilson. Given how decimated the Niners have been by injuries, it feels like this season is just showing that Purdy has a pretty high floor, especially since his stats and accomplishments his first two years are otherworldly from an efficiency standpoint.
